If Boals is caught off guard by these departures then we have the wrong coach. We have the right coach.

I don't think you are wrong at all. What I like about this coaching staff is that it's not afraid to have these tough discussions with players who might not be a good fit moving forward. We didn't see much of this from the previous staff where guys that couldn't play at this level stuck around for four years. Those were killer decisions.

Boals doesn't say goodbye to three front court players without having a plan. I can't wait to see who he brings in. As for Granger, what about a red-shirt year? He could really benefit from losing the baby fat and getting leaner and adding 15-20 pounds of muscle. Granger wasn't ready obviously this year, but Boals was left with no choice. Can't wait for November 2021 to get here.

I agree with you here, but I can't imagine Granger redshirts. I can imagine, and frankly expect Clayton to redshirt, barring injuries of course. Just my gut feeling.

Have to believe there's at least one transfer already in the pipeline if all three of those guys are on the way out. I would have liked to have seen Nolan stay because I thought, if healthy, he was the guy to give minutes behind DWIII. I'll be interested to see where he lands and how he does.

Yep....a terrific transfer I think has already given him the indication he's coming is what I believe as well. I also agree about Foster. While it surprises me a little, I think Boals can absolutely upgrade there. But I was curious to see how he would develop the next three years. He did a good job this past year getting leaner and adding muscle. Wish him well.

Jarron Coleman heading to Mizzou.

Mizzou is also adding Amari Davis from Green Bay. Amari went to Trotwood Madison in Dayton, averaged about 30 ppg as a senior, and somehow never got an offer from Saul's staff.

I just don’t see a future star who is willing to get almost no minutes signing on here.

Can't say I agree with this line of thinking. Otherwise, the majority of the top prospects wouldn't continue to sign with the top schools every year. I have to think the top prospects welcome such a challenge.

So that is where Swanson ended up? I always wondered. I assumed he went with Saul.
He was with Saul for awhile at Northern State but moved over to Green Bay when Will Ryan got the job.

Apples and oranges. We’re not talking about top prospects or a top school. We’re also not talking about top programs with 5 starters returning)?). Future MAC star-not equal to top prospect.

I do agree that most athletes are not afraid of competition and challenges, I just think our particular situation is not necessarily conducive to getting many future stars because of the probable lack of playing time. We shall see how it goes. Boals may work his magic.

This comment could be highly debatable, but I'd say that the only "untouchable" starting spots are Preston and BVP. Next most difficult to move would be Wilson, then maybe Roderick. But if we found a dynamic number three (small forward), I think we'd jump on in as it's a clear opportunity to upgrade. Could possibly have the same mindset for a two guard, but then you start messing with Sears at point/Preston playing off the ball and Roderick's minutes and I don't think you do that. Or could you move BVP to the three, if you could find that rim rocking/slacking/attacking big to slide in at the four (PF)?
But whatever the case, you have to be selective and strategic, but you keep looking for the best fits if one falls in your lap. Otherwise, you bank the scholarships on underclassman.

He has been an emotional leader of the team. I would say I'm surprised, but no transfers surprise me any more.

Heard a podcast with Dwight Wilson and he was talking about what a hard worker Tenerowicz is.
