St. Mary's was awesome last year, I watched a lot of late night WCC games. That's a fun basketball conference. I'm curious what the line is going to be on this but I'm going to guess we will be double digit underdogs.

They rolled Chattanooga 87-66 last night so this is going to be a tough one, stating the obvious I know.

Height is going to be a problem.
St. Mary's has 3 7-footers.

Three 7 footers, you say? Nuthin a few trenchcoats and a good sense of balance can't overcome!

Joking aside, when are we gonna have a hot 3 pt shooting night? Heck, at this point, I would even take tepid.

Go Bobcats!

Anybody been to St. Mary's gym before? I am in the Bay Area this week, and thinking about driving over of my schedule allows.

I've seen their homes games on TV.

It looks like a glorified high school gym.

Their gym (University Credit Union Pavilion) seats 3500. But it's always full.

They're on the east side of the bay. East of Oakland. Tucked up against the bluffs.

Does anyone recall ever having our football team and basketball team playing concurrently before?

My son, future son-in-law and I were at Ford Field for the 2022 MACC game in Detroit, then listened to Ohio v. Marshall in hoops on the drive home.

Hoping for better results on Tuesday.

December 17, 2011. Ohio football gets first bowl game win by beating Utah State in the Potato Bowl while basketball is playing at Wright State. I went to the basketball game. One thing I especially remember is sitting at the game while there was a big ruckus about whether Lavon Brazill got into the end zone for a TD near the very end of the game. Had to text one of my sons to try to find out what was going on.

I was in the Nutter Center for that game with my dad as well. I also remember checking ESPN on my phone and the screens in the walkway during halftime to get score updates on the Potato Bowl - especially as we built a big lead by halftime and the basketball game was not in much doubt.

Two of the seven footers don't play all that much, so at least there's that. They're really spearheaded by their starting lineup and don't seem to be getting much production off their bench so far. Idk who is going to have the task of guarding Mikey Lewis, but so far he's been a problem both inside and out (shooting 61% from three and 58% overall).

As a team we can't let them get wide open looks, because they simply are just better shooters than we are. As a team, 45% from three, 54% overall and 87% from the FT line. They also have two guys averaging 5+ assists so far.

Lewis might be their leading scorer, but Murauskas might be their best player, so the bigs for Ohio will have their hands full there too.

I remember this, doing the same, but I believe the football game was over before the basketball game began. Tomorrow we will definitely have some overlap in game clock. Should make for a nice night.

Men's basketball vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Women's basketball at NKU

Also, basketball was playing Chicago State during the Arizona Bowl. It was funny watching the basketball game because on the broadcast there was a visual and auditory reaction in the crowd the moment Foster caught the game winner.

Haslam predicting we lose:

#32 St Mary's - 79.6
#158 Ohio - 62.2

17.5 sounds about right. I think if we keep it under 15 and leave without any injuries we call it a success.

17.5 is indeed the line. These next 2 are just about competing and hanging around. Outside shooting has to wake up or these 2 could be ugly.

I hear St. Mary's and think, this shouldn't be too bad... they've had some success, but they're still a small school squad. Welllllllll they're huge. And they can shoot.

They have a kid shooting 60% from 3. LOL.
Averaging 25.5 a game.

And a 6'8" Lithuanian PF going for 19/8/5 a night.

Their Center is 7'2". And an active 7'2".

17 is probably right, because we're gonna be shooting 3's to try to get a lead - and then even more 3's when we lose it. Only problem is they make their 3's and we... do not.

This is - on paper - the kind of game, I'd like to see Burris get some early minutes. Kick the dust off a bit. Is JJ still hurt? Get him in there. Worst case scenario this kid averaging 25 scores 30, but shooting it over Burris might at least pose a challenge. Get him and JJ out on top with their arms up. Sure would be nice to have Ayden's body out there. Go stand in the paint and be tall, because Hadaway is gonna be BUSY if we have a fighting chance.

Don't feel very warm and fuzzy about this one. My gut tells me this is going to be like that stretch in Jamaica or wherever under Saul where we couldn't buy a single three pointer.

Just playing fundamentally sound is really all you can ask for out of this game -- and likely Louisville.

Ohio basketball posted video from practice yesterday. It was a quick video and hard to tell, but I didn't see E2 on the floor. Anyone know if he's out for tonight?

Nothing definitive, but I remember Javan Simmons saying something in the Illinois State presser about him potentially being out for "a couple games." So not expecting him to suit up--gonna need some more of the Kelly/Kuany combo!

Love it! Delly is revered here in St. Mary's country...I am sure some Cavaliers fans feel the same!

If any Ohio fans are in the Bay Area come to the game! Small gym...packed with loud (but very friendly) fans.
