I just can't imagine why a P4/5/6 etc, would want to play a Mid Major team anymore. This is so obvious. It's not worth a loss. What I do like is seeing mid-major teams playing each other. But for what? a BBall tournament Expanded NIT.?

The rumor I heard specified an exhibition that would indeed be open to the public. That's as far as the rumor went, but perhaps it's being planned to benefit a charity. Buckeyes played a similar exhibition at Cinci last year.

We'll see soon enough.

BTW, "secret scrimmages" appear now to be a thing of the past with new NCAA rules that allow all D-1 teams to play up to 2 "exhibition" games against D-1 opponents. A number are already scheduled: Duke at Tennessee and home vs UCF. Tennessee has a second exhibition at Michigan. Coach Cal is trying to set one up between Arkansas and Memphis.

And according to the NCAA, if you still wish to hold a scrimmage with another team, it no longer has to be secret!

We have Marshall, likely a D2 or lower division opponent, and another game (Davidson?) and I think that is it. One would think they are all going to be in December. Marshall only has one December game scheduled so far.

FWIW, Davidson currently has games scheduled 12/7 and 12/22. I don't think that the NBA schedule is out and if that is a possibility that might be a requirement.

I doubt the Davidson thing was ever real.

They could still stick a game on the 8th but that's a loaded week. November looks full. Maybe something happens Thanksgiving Saturday, but that's an afterthought slot. Hopefully Marshall is put on that first December Saturday, or they find another D1 opponent. The second Saturday the Convo is booked for fall commencement. Need a Saturday home game against a D1 with students on campus.

Illinois St. game is a homecoming of sorts for HC Ryan Peden and center Chase Walker. Peden was an assistant coach at OSU. Walker was an all state player at Columbus St. Charles. There, he was a 6'9" 325 lb. behemoth. He's slimmed down to 280 and was an all-Missouri Valley Conference first team selection last year. Should be fun to watch.

I mean this has to be one of the toughest non-con slates in school history. And yes....I know it's not Trent's pre-season NIT year champ schedule...but this has to be top 5 non-con slate in school history.
