Oh and if you wanted my ideal lineup that will never happen

PG - Elliott
SG - Conners/Fisher
SF - Kelly
PF - Hadaway
C - Simmons
I'm surprised 31 and BLSS glossed over this part, but LMAO. You're willingness to start not one, but possibly two freshman ahead of Pavs is absolutely hilarious. It's trolling at this point, right? You can't be that shortsighted.
This made me laugh. There are some things he posts that I agree have to be trolling.

My favorite being the Myrtle Beach tournament claim that Pavs was only productive against "slow white guys under 6 foot" when not a single player on any roster in the field matched that description.

At the rim and near the rim are very different things.

My eyes say Pavs basically never finished within 3 feet of the rim successfully.

What he did well was find ways to finish once he got stuck in the paint from 3-6ish feet away.

That's in a grey area between close and midrange and one I think is just a bad idea to rely on for success statistically, even if he's an anomaly.

Like I said I'll have to dig into it deeper.

Basically all shot chart data -- at least at the college level -- looks at finishing in the restricted area (4ft), in the paint, midrange 2s, above the break 3s, and the corners.

Pavs shot 73/109 (67%) in the restricted area. He finished worse in the paint but outside of the restricted area 44/92 (47.8%). He took more shots in the restricted area than anywhere else on the floor -- 35.5% of his shots.

The data just doesn't align with what your eyes are telling you. I think you stopped being rational about Pavs a while back, and should probably just try and take a fresh look next season.

You were also really insistent that Elliott should be starting over Pavs specifically because he finished at the rim and in the paint better. He didn't. In the restricted area he was 30 of 60. In the paint, he was 8 of 24. He did get to the rim a lot; he just didn't finish well at all.

Pav is a crafty dude in the paint. Fun to watch. I care not where his head is in relation to the rim when the ball falls. Hell, I think more dudes need a pull up/floater game.... (But I'm old and tired of watching shitloads of threes as well.)

Thanks for the detailed stats, BLSS. With Pavs they reveal what my eyes were telling me. With Elliott, on the other hand, I did think he did better at the rim. I think it's just the case of remembering a few crucial drives and finishes and not remembering as well the misses in less crucial and more frequent times.

Here’s a photo of some of the guys. I know Kuany’s actual height has been a subject. Closer to the camera but still appears like he’s taller than Hadaway.

Love that Reef and Estis are still hanging with the team and doing good things! Standup dudes for sure! And Sheldon out there lookin yoked! Dude is going to rebounds from his off year and I think he will continue to be a difference maker for this program. There is no reason he cannot be Tommy Schmock 2.0 or just be in the Stevie Taylor mold of a defensive guy, spot shooter who gives great energy. Glad he is staying. He has the swagger to go with Chaos, Simmons and Conners!

Sheldon is way more athletic than people give him credit for. As a 6'0 white dude whose shot has struggled, he's gotten a lot of strays this past year about his alleged "lack of athleticism."

I think it was his sophomore year where he caught a heave under the basket, contorted himself in midair, and somehow finished the layup at the halftime buzzer (IIRC it was then waved off. Kent State home game maybe? Where's Shabamon when you need him!?). Reminded me of some of the crazy stuff you see Ja pull off.

He had something similar against MTSU in Nassau. Can't remember if he got the call for and one, but it was right in front of me. Lamar was hyped up and started flexing, it was a fun moment.

I don't remember a home game play, but he did have a cool and-1 reverse layup at Miami in 2024. The MTSU game he took a layup right at their 6'11'' mountain of a human and dropped it in. Don't think it was a foul.

Just grabbing a team. Once Nate Johnson left Akron I think they were out. Miami returns a bunch of solid rotation guys. Losing Craft is tough.

Don't worry, two hours before the conference tournament championship starts Lunardi will pick the winner and claim he had the MAC right the whole time. He changes his mind more than a girlfriend deciding where to eat dinner for the evening.

Wasn’t sure where to drop this, but Logan Adams (I believe a current student) with some tidbits from Boals on the roster -> https://www.midmajorbasketball.com/get-to-know-the-2025-2... /

“(Simmons) is going to demand a double team,” Boals said. “He’s just such a load down low, and he’s really worked on his 3-point shot.”

“This is probably one of the deepest teams we’ve had,” Boals said. “The biggest thing is trying to build that chemistry … understanding that there’s going to be sacrifices individually and sacrifices as a team in order to win a championship.”

+1, thanks for sharing! And kudos to Logan Adams, this is the type of quality student reporting I’m hoping we can get on a regular basis.

One other note from the piece is that Zay Mosley is apparently out for the season. Doesn’t say why, but he seemed like a redshirt candidate in any case. Seems like we always have one of these, doesn’t it?

If his stats are a one-year anomaly that's one thing. If he himself is a statistical anomaly in that category that is a very different thing entirely.

I remember a few times last season I saw Kuany and Aiden next to each other and I thought he was noticeably taller.

If I had to guess, Hadaway is closer to 6'7" and Kuany is a true 6'9". Him and Evans are LONG. If we could get them both going... man, that could be a cheat code.

(Hadaway is still my MAC PoY darkhorse.)

Well that sucks. While I wasn't expecting him to put up big minutes, he's another large(ish) body if other injuries or foul trouble came into play during the year. He could have been useful.

Starters should be: Pavs, Conners, Elliott, Simmons, Hadaway
First guard off bench: Sheldon
First wing off bench: Breath
First post off bench: Evans
Kelley is a freak. Won his high school track team a state title as a junior and did not do track this spring to focus on basketball. Fisher is thin but smooth. And Burris was going to be a shooter if he didn't get hurt. Kuany is an unknown and I get crap for it but Carter Reese will fit in somewhere. The Carson Heideckers and Tommy Shmock's of the world have shown us that.

I realize Breath is more of a center but I am sure he is coming here to expand his game. I think we only have one true center in Evans with a bunch of 3's and 4's. I know Simmons wants to expand his game but I am sure he will join Hadaway in having his back to the basket. Same with Breath. I could see him banging the boards but stepping outside as well. It's a pretty athletic lineup with interchangeable parts especially if one of Kelly, Kuany or Fisher can play right away because they are athletic and long. Who was our last 3 and D guy? Would be nice to have a few of those.

No really, Breath isn't more of a center -- he is one. He's in his final year and has yet to attempt a 3PT in his career. He's coming here to do what he's always done and what he's being paid (funny to type that) to do. Rebound and provide an interior presence defensively.

I'd also be shocked if he isn't starting at the 5 alongside Simmons and Hadaway despite how many want Elliot on the first team.

I think it has to be E2. Just not enough shooting otherwise and the floor spacing would be a mess.
