It would be much better to see ESPN not list a Kentucky loss to Ohio as a bad loss.

Kudos to Kentucky for being willing to play us. They have little to gain from it.

I’m hoping we have a puncher’s chance with four minutes left. It’s all we can ask for. We may play our best game and it still may not be enough.

Whether it proves we can hang with the big boys or it humbles us, it’ll be a good experience for this team.

Win or lose, as long as our guys continue to play hard. I just appreciate the hard-nosed defense and the comradery I am seeing. That is all culture. Boals has gotten us a group of guys who you can tell love being around each other and who love playing with each other on the court and off. Ezuma, Adelodun, Granger -- guys who haven't played yet are the most excited on the bench! I look for OUr guys to be ready for Kentucky but if we get blown out I'm not overreacting. This has already been a fun start.

This is the game that we will miss Dwight the most. Last year, he was able to play Cockburn well, limiting (Yeah, I said limiting) him to 13 pts and 14 boards. Tshiebwe is a beast and we don't have anyone to challenge him down low... Offensively, we can drag him out to the perimeter if JC is shooting 3's but defensively, he will be next to impossible to counter. It's going to take some excellent 3 pt shooting by the Bobcats and we have to hope the opposite happens to them. Not impossible, but not likely either. I just hope we play them tough and try not to get blown out so that the computer ranking numbers don't crush us.
I also think this is a great experience for the team to play in a big time environment. I hope it helps us in March...

Fully agree. Getting a chance to compete with Kentucky at Rupp is going to be a great experience.

According to Boals in the press conference last night, they only agreed after they found out that Jason Preston had moved on and that Dwight Wilson would be out.

Agree. Wilson would be nice to have to matchup with Tshiebwe (who is currently leading the NCAA in rebounds) but if Carter and BVP are hitting their 3's it'll be interesting to see how Kentucky plays that. BVP hitting shots against Virginia was huge for that win. To really simplify this, if we knock down 40% of our looks from 3 this could be interesting!

That just makes me want to win even more, and have us led by those Preston & Wilson replacements Sears & Carter.

That said, even if that is the case I will never not commend top programs for being willing to play us or similar solid mid-major programs regardless of the circumstances.

Is this Kentucky team as good as Illinois last year? I'd say we were more than ready for that game, should have been a W.

I am no basketball mind, but I like the way we match up with U.K. on paper.
Regardless of the match up or how good we are it is really, really, hard to win at Rupp.

Watching Kentucky play MSM right now. When UK wants to turn it on defensively, that’s probably when they’re the most difficult. Their length in the full court press is tough to handle. Bobcats will need to be very smart with the basketball and not get overwhelmed by UK’s size.

This team easily dispatched bobby mo and we couldn't put them away until 2 minutes left. I know, I know. transitive scores and such. But we have to find another gear to have any chance.

Yeah, but we beat Belmont by twelve, who beat Furman by six, who beat Louisville by eight, who beat Navy by seventeen, which upset #25 Virginia by eight to open the season. Since we are obviously 50+ points better than Virginia, I think we have a pretty good chance against Kentucky.

Ohio has a great opportunity here and a very good chance at walking away with a win. Both Belmont and Cleveland State were their conference’s pre-season picks and Ohio beat both comfortably. Kentucky is not the heavyweight it has been in some recent years past and I expect Ohio to go toe to toe with these guys and go right down to the wire like they did against Illinois last year. Win or lose this game, I think it’s gonna be close either way.

I think we are going to be around a 12 point underdog. Rupp adds about 4 points on to what it would be, say, in the NCAA tournament. If we had Preston and Wilson on the team it would be a lot less than that. As it is, if UK really is a top ten team and we do beat them I'm going to start thinking of Boals as one of the best coaches in the country.

It would be great if we were hanging around near the end which we did in one of the most exciting Ohio games I've seen and the loudest crowd I can remember. It was in Cincinnati in '05 when Ohio's offense put on a show, shooting 65% in the first half while Jeremy Fears was shutting down Rajon Rondo. We actually led by 9 points three times in the game until we unraveled in the last 3 minutes. Let's give them another game. Go OHIO!

They've reloaded since last year's missed tournament. While I'm not suggesting they're a top 3-5 team right now, they are a lot better than 2020-21. It's what I hope for, but Toe-to-toe is a lot to expect in my opinion.
