Anyone expect a surprise tomorrow, in regard to a National Letter of Intent signing we didn't expect?

If we expected it, would it be a surprise?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we still get 13 schollies, but can go over the 13 limit only for players that were on the team in 2020-21 using their extra year of eligibility.

With that said - I "think" that means DW3, Carter and Schmock are out of eligibility after this year.

BVP could actually stay another year (his bonus year) - but if he's graduating (again), I dunno if he uses it.

That means 3 or 4 open spots - and we've already got 4 recruits signed up in Elmore James IV, Aidan Hadaway, Ajay Sheldon and AJ Brown.

That puts us right back to 13 (if BVP goes), or 14 (if BVP stays).

I don't think we could add anyone else could we???

Carter and Schmock will have to leave. If Schmock went down with a season-ending injury before this season gets too old, he might be able to take a medical redshirt, but Carter is definitely gone.

If Wilson is sidelined for the year, I believe he can return.

BVP could also return, but if he will have already earned his second Master's at the end of this year, why would he want to?

Teams often go over the scholarship allotment with the assumption a guy or two is going to transfer out (or in cases of some schools, they assume they are going to have guys go pro), but I think it's good to avoid that except for a really good recruit.

How about BVP comes back for year 6 and we make him a grad assistant...haha. Whatever it takes. Would be quite incredible if he came back for a 6th year. Come on Athens businesses...pay him 40-50K in NIL money and help BVP come back for a 6th year!

Maybe the surprise is Elmore James doing a concert with Joe Bonamassa?

Ajay Sheldon has signed.

I'm expecting all of our verbals to sign. Hadaway and Brown were tweeting Ohio stuff yesterday and James did his official visit a few weeks ago.

Not so far fetch in college sports in 2021.

Before the Ohio/Belmont tip last night I caught some of the Akron game v. o$u. The ESPN announcers were talking about the buckeye's new 6-10 player Joey Brunk and how he was on Holtman's team at Butler before transferring to Indiana and then to o$u. Couldn't help laughing when they mentioned he shows some potential to help o$u with his inside presence. Never thought of a 6th-year player (or is it 7th year?) as having potential.

How many football programs now have a 30-year old punter/kicker from Australia?

It's not the NCAA football/basketball from our youth.

You trying to say an overweight 40 year old with eligibility left can't still have "potential" on the interior?

(Said in best you trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball voice)
