Saw that BH was at it again last Monday: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/3...

Has he had previous episodes similar to this when he coached at Buffalo? Could imagine the O-Zone giving him a hard time then.

He did NOT take kindly to Saul Phillips fist pumping after a go-ahead dunk in the final seconds.

The guy always yapped like a miniature schnauzer, even at home games. He and Dan Dakich when he was at BG were always great for a laugh. The late Charlie Coles at Miami too, but we actually liked Charlie.

Saul said, "You can't unfist a fist pump." Furley would not call him by name. Called him, "the Ohio head coach."

Jeez, I guess being from Jersey and playing Duke molds you into a huge sore loser. Will have to look up some Dakich / Coles shenanigans later.

What were some things that Dakich / Coles would do?

Dakich could go from sitting calmly on the bench at level 0 to having an outburst with that big froggy voice at level 100 in less than a second. Pair that with some big arm gestures and he was so easy to laugh at.

Charlie was so much fun, man. He had such a zest for the best parts of life in general. He loved playing against us too as he would have some give and take with the O Zone. He could argue a call and the O Zone would yell at him to sit down, and he'd point to himself and then to his chair like "Me? You want ME to sit HERE?"

His press conference after a close loss at Kentucky made the rounds, but I always laugh at this one after a home loss to UC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzcVYh1clc8 RIP

Those are hilarious! That video was great. Seems like a guy who's highly intelligent about the game and a great coach. I remember seeing a Battle of the Bricks hype video from 2010 where he's saying "That O-Zone will be jumpin.." LOL! I saw he passed in 2013, much too early in my opinion.

Dakich comes off to me as a loose cannon. He got in some hot water at ESPN in recent years for some pretty bad comments.

I think ESPN encourages its talking heads to make outlandish comments as part of being "entertaining" but doesn't tell them where the line is until they cross it. Not defending Dakich; as I recall some of his comments were waaay past the edge. But it's happened with more than one ESPN commentator.

As for Charlie, he was a real joy to watch. He loved everything about the game, including the fan enthusiasm from the other teams. He knew that basketball wasn't life, so he didn't take it too seriously.
