Jason Carter will have a posterizing dunk, just like his last two games vs Marshall.

Nice call!

We won that one at the foul line. Fairly evenly played otherwise.

We won this one on the back of Mark Sears.

Was that the worst game of BVP’s career? 2 points 5 turnovers.

Sears played a great game, solid win that makes the non conference slate feel even better.

Don’t usually have anything nice to say about Marshall, so I don’t say anything… but I really like Anochili-Killen‘s game.

If we can wrap up non league with SC Upstate we are 9-2. We lost to two NCAA Tourney teams from SEC and beat a bunch of solid mid majors. Great start to the year.

And Carter - so glad he came back from X - he's playing inspired big man ball and is a leader of the team. To think - just a few games ago some posters were feeling their oats and calling out both Sears and Carter.

Holy cow. If Marshall had any game tonight...we lose badly. But you have to win games like that if you want to pull off something special during the year. 22 turnovers and 22 made free throws. That's the game. Put the "W" in the back pocket and quietly move to the next game.

Until Brod starts making 3's, teams are going to sag on BVP and it's going to be tough sledding for 5. With all that said, we have a chance to be 9-2 in non-con with two games we should win to start conference play before Akron.

Go Bobcats.

PS Was confused why Izuma did not get a minute in the second half. Also, it appears Boals likes to go with Tommy in crunch time over Miles in the four minutes. I'm seeing that trend develop. Not sure about that one.

Not your Father's Bobcats; these guys play defense!

Holding Marshall to their lowest point total, check.
Holding Stetson to their lowest point total, check.
Holding LSU to their lowest point total, check.

Ever think that the reason Marshall didn’t have any game tonight had something to do with OHIO?

Boom! + 1

However I just read it’s because Marshall didn’t play!

This Bobcat team has grit! They got players who fight for each other, they have veterans and young cats. They won’t win them all, but they are fun to watch!

Ohio had something to do with that for sure. But how many times is Marshall's back-court going to go 8-32 from the field and commit 22 turnovers? We also got some luck there. I'm happy as anyone with a "W" tonight, but the Herd backcourt couldn't make a basket. And of course, defense had something to do with it.

Well, I’m glad we don’t play them again, because it sounds like we’d get beat by 30!

Someone said in another thread in regards to BRod that shooters shoot. No where was that more evident than in the Convo tonight with Tayvion Kinney, a recruit I wanted out of Columbus, continuing to chuck and clank shot after shot, ending up 4 of 18 from the field. The best player on the floor for Marshall (and maybe for both teams) tonight was Obinna Anochili-Killen. The nation's leader in blocked shots finished with 18 pts, on 2 3-pointers, 9 rebs, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

Marshall made a late charge and I was prepared to blame SBH for leaving with 5 minutes left in the game if in fact the Herd had pulled out the comeback win.

All of a sudden our bench is making a difference. 12-3 edge tonight; 18-6 edge vs Stetson; a close 17-19 deficit vs St Francis.

Kinda wondered why Sam wasn’t on the floor more often. He was guarding Taevion with ease

Have to side with Billy here. Most of those turnovers were caused by the quick hands and feet of Ohio.

We aren't playing our best ball, but this team is still finding a way to win. Just wait till they start clicking on all cylinders.

Waiting for Herdistan fans to blame the refs for this loss. Didn't see that in the first Herald Dispatch article, however.

Took a look at their game thread. Some are blaming refs, others have common sense.

In terms of defense and turnovers, I noticed that we would often have three players very quickly collapse into the center -- often leaving their own man -- to assist with defense under the basket. This seemed very coordinated and many times completely disrupted their offense and lead to steals and other turnovers. Though I don't know the intricacies of the defensive strategy, it appeared to me that this was a case of good scouting and good planning on the part of our coaches. We must have seen some weakness in the way they drive to the basket and figured out a way to counter it. The Marshall players seemed bewildered that what appeared to be an open lane collapsed so quickly, and they got stripped of the ball before they could pass it out to the perimeter to an open man. I've probably not explained what I saw very well, but it happened numerous times and is not something I routinely see our defense do. I think it was some kind of adjustment to Marshall's offense.

Another thing on OUr defense last night: seems Marshall likes the alley-oop and I recall it working once or twice early. But Ohio defended it well the rest of the game. I imagine our scouting report prepared the players for this.

Jason Carter specifically mentioned limiting Marshall's dunks during the post game press conference.

I'm happy with the way the guys are playing. I think we have quite a ways to go offensively of course but, they will get it sorted out. The comforting thing to know is that per Bart Torvik's site, Ohio's performance trajectory has gone up as the season progressed during the past two seasons under Coach Boals' stewardship. He adjusts, he tinkers, he is able to change the game plan to fit what we are good at. Kind of like halftime adjustments but, for the season, if that makes any sense.

Go Bobcats! Way to get the win over Marshall! Woot!

Elite defense last night, disrupted them big time. It wasn't like they were missing wide open shots all night. We are a very sound fundamentally strong defensive team that should play well in the MAC.

BVP was doubled a good bit, credit Marshall. He had a really really rough night. He wasn't just 0 for 5 from 3 none of them were even remotely close. If there is one player to not worry about, it is BVP so I am just glad we were able to manage around his horrendous night.

Roderick managed to get to 10 points despite another 0-fer behind the arc. Now at 15.9% on the season which is just startling. Others have said his struggles a more widespread but I don't see it. I think his defense is fine, has had several effort rebounds and has finished in the paint pretty well. He just can't hit a 3 to save his life right now.

AJ Clayton and Tommy Schmmock continue to exceed expectations. I'm totally OK with more minutes going to them.

Mark Sears is a total bad ass. His shot looks so good right now. His 17 per game is impressive but I won't be surprised if he ends up averaging 20 per game in the MAC and yes in the conversation for POY as a sophomore.
