Quite unfortunate that NIU's win over Washington and Miami's win over Georgia Tech are only Q3 wins.

Belmont ranked almost dead even with Kentucky?

Officially calling bvll5hit on that. LSU beat Belmont like a rented mule.

This is all vanity. Rankings are meaningless in the MAC. Want to dance? Win it in Cleveland. Same as it ever was.

Well, unless you can do something special in non con and carry that success through the regular season, which we didn't do.

But yes you're right. This season, sadly like most others, again comes down to 3 days in Cleveland.

Some day I hope for that not to be the case because for all the history and success we've had, as much investment in coaching salaries and recruiting, until we can get out of the one bid league rut where the whole season hinges on the conference tournament, we're ultimately no different than every other one bid also ran.

We just play better teams and pay more money to get a smaller number on ranking sites, which when combined with $5 will get you a Starbucks coffee.

I'll give you one thing - you're consistent with this Belmont loathing. 😉

In Sagarin, the MAC is having an "off" year so far....#16.

Buffalo 74, Ohio 100, Toledo 104. What's killing the league are two teams under 300. Atypical for the MAC.

It's crazy how many teams have been added to D-1 in the past 5 years. Up to 358 total with some names I don't recognize (and I used to know them all)

Here are some from the Net Rankings:

206-California Baptist (6-1, lookout!)
250-Tarleton State (0-7 BTW, I'm skeptical they actually belong above 300 lol)
267-Merrimack
284-UTRGV (without looking, my guess is University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley?)
322-Dixie State
329-St. Thomas-Mn. (Are these the guys Mount Union always plays in the football playoffs?)

One school I know went the other way. The U. of Hartford is going D3 next year after just making the dance for the first time in the school's history. But growing up there I know it was a smart move.

Dixie St. is located in SW corner of Utah in the beautiful high desert city of St. George, one of the fastest growing areas in that part of the country. Used to visit about once every other year when 2 of my brothers lived there.

Dixie St. used to be a junior college and I believe former Bobcat baller Taren Harbut came to Athens after playing 2 years there.

its sad that days in cleveland decide ohios fate in post seasonb play. that could be avoided if ohio got out of the mac.perhaps the big east, american ,aac ,or conference usa would be just the thing. ohio is capable of competeting weel in any of thgose conferences and could start getting at large bids cause these conferences all offfer up more than one bid

St Thomas and Mount met twice. Interesting thing about them is the MIAC just up and booted them two years ago (quite dominant on all DIII sports in that conference. So the Summit invited them, and they appealed to the NCAA for immediate admission to NCAA DI which was granted. So football is in the Patriot League like all the other non-Ivy non-scholarship football programs and all other sports are DI. Very very rare exception!

I agree! If we would build that second deck onto Peden and get capacity up to 40k, I’d think we’d be a no brained for the ACC, AAC at worse.

Pioneer, not Patriot. I see they finished in third place in the Pioneer in football this season. In basketball, I think they'll be competitive in the Summit.

Optimist....you may be thinking of Wisconsin Whitewater.

Oops, yes! Pioneer! Thanks! I knew better. I believe it’s also the largest private school in a state.

Worth noting that all but St Tom are rated higher than NIU and all are rated higher than CMU. Even the first four are rated higher than WMU.

Dixie and Tarleton are part of the WAC in b-ball and the 1AA/FCS ASUN-WAC Challenge conference in football. The WAC football teams are expected to move up to 1A/FBS within the next ten years.
