What I love about this guy is that he's his own brand of goofy, while being sincere and seemingly 100% genuine. It seems like he gets it.
He is the easiest coach to appreciate since I've been a Bobcat. And that's saying something for me.
Said it from the moment he was hired. He gets it with social media and how to use it to his advantage as a coach. Does it sign recruits...no. Does it help bring attention to the program...yes. This approach wasn't utilized by previous coaches.
And you are right....he has a goofiness and doesn't care what people might think of him dunking a nerf ball or dancing in the locker-room. The players love it and that's all I care about. And genuine is correct. This was a slam dunk home run hire from the get-go and why I wanted it to happen much earlier than it did.
You were right on this one so far. My hope is that it lasts a long time before some place else with mega bucks comes calling.
Or that Ohio can become some sort of mid-major "power" that allows Ohio to pay him substantially more so that mega bucks aren't of interest to him at all but the biggest fish in the college hoops pond. (probably a pipe dream, but hey, we can dream, right?)
