Wishing him the best in his fight against lung cancer. How cool would it be if he got to announce one of our games!:

I remember first hearing about him when his college team team Detroit beat Marquette at Marquette, the year Al Maquire's squad won the national championship. The next memory I have of him is discussing our dramatic win against Illinois State in the 1983 tourney. I met him a couple of times (coaching clinics etc) and he was always gracious in his praise of us and other MAC teams. I have heard the same generous stories from others. He's done a lot for charitable causes and just helping those whose stories you will never hear. You're right, it would be great to have him recover and announce one of our games!

Dickie V had that U of D roster peppered with future NBA players. Earl Cureton, Terry Long, Terry Tyler, Terry Duerod.

According to the internet, Cureton didn't join them until 78-79. :)

The internet? Thought you weren't a fan.
Wasn't Dickie V still there when Cureton played?
