Much on the line. Winner likely takes regular season title and winning team most likely has the guy who gets voted MAC Player of the Year.

Game on.

Playing a big game in a place called Savage makes it so much more dramatic.

Maybe Western pushing us like they did was the best thing that could have happened. Hope we bounce back defensively.

I really hope the sound coming from Toledo is improved from the WMU game. The sound is bad for every ESPN3 broadcast at home but this past game was noticeably worse. I'm a big fan of Jake and this did a disservice to both of them.

So here we are, back where we were a couple weeks ago -- in first place, a half-game ahead of Toledo, on a five-game MAC winning streak, and facing the Rockets. No deja vu all over again, please.

I am thinking that we are going to be about a 5 point underdog in this one.

I hope we show a little more patience on offense. Would love to see whoever has Shumate on them take him to the rack and get him in foul trouble. BVP please bring those long distance 3’s ta little closer. With the way they double teamed in our last meeting it would be huge to have Brod and Tommy knock down some 3’s. I hope Sears doesn’t try to do too much but I get the feeling he is pissed about his showing the last time and would like nothing better than to hang a triple double on them.Just hope we don’t get the win Tuesday then give one away on Thursday.

I'd like to see both BVP and Carter working down low for the first 10 minutes.

Maybe I'm trying to justify my lack of optimism going in, but the game doesn't feel that important in the grand scheme of things. A regular season championship is nice, but just ask Jim Christian how memorable it is. As long as Ohio heads to Cleveland with one of the top three seeds, the path to a tournament berth is pretty similar. No matter what, if Toledo and Ohio play like they are capable of playing in Cleveland, they'll end up facing off there for what will be a truly big game.

I'm not totally discounting tomorrow. I'd like to see them beat Toledo and play much better than they did in Athens. Regular season championships are nice, etc. But with no byes on offer in Cleveland and not a lot separating seeds 6-8 (or 3-5 for that matter), a #1 seed doesn't really mean that much.

Totally get what you are saying. I don't put too much stock into a regular season MAC championship, but it is rarified air for this program. The banner would look good in the Convo. Christian didn't win it outright...he shared it with Akron. At least with winning MAC regular season title, you are guaranteed NIT...but we always have bigger goals than that.

If win Tuesday, great.
If we don't, nobody is panicking.
It all comes down to three special days in Cleveland.
Same thing every year.

Yeah, you can look at this way:

Winning, of course, is great, but if we lose, we can still at least tie Toledo for first by winning out. That would get us the number 2 seed in Cleveland.

In addition, Toledo has lost to two somewhat mediocre teams this season (Kent, BSU, currently 4th and 6th in the MAC). They still have Kent and Buffalo plus some other mediocre teams on their schedule that could bite them. So beating Toledo isn't the only path to a MAC regular season championship for Ohio.

I don't buy in to thought that the regular season really doesn't matter theory, though I do understand the spirit of that theory. I would much rather be sitting 10-1 right now than 8-3 or 7-4. I'm pretty sure there would be grumbling board wide if we were 6-5, but still having an invite to Cleveland. Regular season does matter, the only team hoping they don't draw Ohio Bobcats in the first round is Toledo (and suspect after Tuesday they won't want us again).

The thing I like about OUr Cats this season is the availability to have several guys be legit to put the team on his shoulders and carry us for periods of games. We saw last year how Boals had us ready for March. I expect that again as we hone in these last couple weeks. Their approach of one game at a time will be in our favor in the tournament.

Toledo is next!

Tomorrow is HUGE, I think. One, it's big for the confidence of the team to know that they are the class of the conference. Two losses to Toledo seem to sour that. Also, as infinitesimal as it may seem, there is a glimmer of hope for an at-large bid if we were to run the table heading into the MAC tournament. Still a long way to go for that, but it doesn't really have any chance with a loss tomorrow. However, if we head into the MAC tournament at 28-3 and a ranking in the top 25-30, we would have an absolute argument for an at-large berth.

If we are able to win out the regular season and even if we were to loose in the conference tournament finals I believe we would get into the NCAA's because we would have been ranked going into the finals game.
We now have some votes,2, in the rankings.

Other big part of tomorrow is top scorer in the MAC. Currently, Ryan Rollins is averaging 20.0 ppg shooting 48% from the field and 82% from the line. That's good enough for the 20th best scoring average in the nation. Mark Sears is right behind him at 19.9 ppg average, also shooting 48% from the field along with 91% from the line. Mark currently is 22nd in the nation is scoring. Would love to see him eclipse that 20 ppg mark with a massive game tomorrow night.

I want a regular season title. I care about the whole season, not just the end. I want us to be the best and I don’t want to just have gotten hot for a week.

Other BA posters have commented on here about "loose" v. "lose" over the years. By now you'd think a degree from OUr university plus those many corrections on here would have eliminated any future misuse of the two, no?

Luckily, Ohio won't see the top scorer in the MAC again. That Bronco left the nets in the Convo smoldering on Saturday.

He couldn't miss, except when we made him miss a free throw. An "Anchorman" quote maybe have been responsible for that.
