Eddie Hicks

honorable mention to Victor Alexander who once introduced himself as:

"I'm V.A. from P.A. and I'm here to Par-Tay"

I go back to 1988, but was spoiled early on by seeing jamerson and snoopy live, fell in love with MAC basketball.

Then i graduated and the rush of the Trent era just lit the fuse.

I must admit there several on this years squad very high on my list!
BUT the late 80's with Jamerson (GOAT of OU Basketball)
Jamerson was good, but definitely not the GOAT.

Trent was great and will forever be GOAT of OHIO hoops.

Gary Trent for me - hands down. It's like Marino. If you didn't see him dominate in person over his 3 years, it is hard to explain.

For me, it's a tie between Sean Carlson, Jim Zelinka and Mick Isgregg - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, if you will.
I'm thinking Zelinka is the Ugly!

1998 grad here ... saw Trent his junior year and it was something. He was a beast ...

Also being a fellow Ohio Valley kid ... I am required to nominate Geno Ford. He squeezed so much from his skill level. An amazing leader and floor general.

DJ Cooper did things that I've never seen any other guard at Ohio do ....

Then came along this dude with funky hair named Preston ...

And now Sears.

I lived away from Athens from '99-'11 ... so I'm only "grading" guys I saw in person

But that's a damn good fivesome ... guard heavy .... but gimmie those five and let's roll

What, no Ball or Luckett? Or am I a year early?

This is where I started. Not many teams better.

Larry is the best. It was with Larry I realized that there was/is no loyalty in sports.

Don Hilt.

Favorite memory. Ohio is defeating Miami. Last minute of game. Ohio scores. Hilt plops down on the court and watches the final seconds tick away.

I still remember the PA guy ... "Bucket by Luckett" or "Basket Ball". Denny Rusch could hit top of the key jumpers. Billy Brown was smooth as silk. Denny Thompson had a decent outside shot at times. Scotty Love here after big brother Craig. George Green a beast underneath and of course Bob Huggins before he headed to WV. Was tough losing Larry Slappy and Ulice Payne a couple years later to Richmond and Marquette. Good memories.

Edit: And who can forget Tommy Hester who could jump out of the gym?

Might have to go with John Devereaux.

Would like to add that this is one of those rare threads that introduced 2 new posters to BA - harpo's and and BBHacker.

Personal favorite is Paul Snoopy Graham. Shout outs to Mychal Green and Lewis Geter.

No Brandon Hunter mentions yet….

Gerald McKee. That is four the late 60s folks
Great Bobcat trivia - Gerald made the last bucket ever at Grover Center. It was a buzzer beater to defeat Toledo & Steve Mix in 1968.

I'm probably going to think of someone else as soon as I post this but these are the guys I really enjoyed watching.

DJ Cooper
Jason Preston
Tommy Freeman
Jeff Boals
Kirk Lehman

Forgot to mention the best defender ever in the Convo, Eddie Hicks. He was so devastating that Ron Harper Jr probably even has bad dreams for what Eddie did to his father.

I'd take your five, swap Jr/Sr year Tommy Freeman for Geno, and add Jerome Tillman in there for Preston.

Other considerations from my years as a Bobcat include:

Brandon Hunter
Leon Williams
Sanjay Adell
Sonny Troutman
Jaivon Harris
Tony Campbell
Maurice N'Dour
Jason Preston
Ben Vander Plas

And....
Had he stayed as a senior, Jaaron Simmons.

I loved Eddie Hicks, but Miles Brown is equally good on the defensive end.

I'd like to get creative but it's Trent. As others have said, to see a top-15 1st round pick dominate like he did was not something I expected to see during my time at OU. Home games were an event.

Honorable mention: Rush Floyd. Simply because after too much pre-gaming, I'd do my best Road Warrior Hawk impression...Ohhhh, what a Rush!

Honorable, honorable mention: Brandon Hunter. Drafted late 2nd round, built like a brick sh**house and played hard all the time.
