I think we did a decent job in the non-conference. We won all our home games (7),
went 2-2 on the road, with our only losses being at Kentucky (who just beat North Carolina by 29 at a neutral site), and a 12-0 LSU team. We haven't had DW, and have played without Lunden McDay for many games. While not always pretty, or some tough shooting nights, we've managed to go 9-2. I have faith that Jeff will coach up our new guys, make the rotation work, and keep us getting better. Hopefully, we can make a run like last year.
Wow, how far we have come with our expectations as a fanbase! We finished an 11-game pre-conference schedule 9-2 with our only two losses to a highly-ranked Kentucky team (AWAY) and an undefeated LSU (AWAY) that we took punches from and came back to be competitive. We beat NCAA mid-major teams in Belmont and CSU, dominated our rival in Marshall and took care of business with every other team we played. It wasn't pretty at times but OUr guys took care of business down the stretch of games, played great defense and had offense when needed. They've dealt with the loss of their NBA point guard, their All-MAC big man and a 2-year starter who was considered our lockdown defender. Ezuma started the year hurt and Schmock, as a senior, is in his first D-1 season. I am awe struck at the lack of enthusiasm where many of you use the words "disappointed" or "Decent job." The job done by Boals is amazing.
