The bench took over at the under 12 with a 29-pt lead and never BSU get within 24. That was a much-needed 12-minute rest for the starters. Good job!

Nice. Thought a lot of kids caught onto it because the dirt sheets I put out which had WT/LT on the front. Keeping it there for future games for new kids.

You're doing a great job. Keep it up. Believe me. The players really care that you're all there. It's important.

I think the officiating was interesting tonight. Early on, Ohio wasn't getting a great whistle. Coach Boals really got on them for quite a stretch. Then we started getting a noticeably better whistle.

Yeah that was pretty interesting to say the least. Loved when BS kept fouling and we kept doing "You you you youuu!"

Zebras are calling fouls like people are paying to watch them. 11 before the 4 minute time out. Only excuse would be if the game were getting chippy. It’s not.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many fouls called tonight, and ticky-tack whistles on both sides. Really took the flow out of the game and then it was a blowout and the calls were even more annoying. 42 fouls tonight -- there were 20 at Buffalo. And we didn't capitalize by missing 5 free throws each half. Weird game but I'll take it and fun to see every healthy player play.

Thought we could have given even a bigger cheer and standing o when they finally scored the dunk after over 13 minutes of futility. Our run was from 8:38 of first half to 14:57 of second, Balls only had 1 free throw just after halftime in that stretch while we scored 31. Ozone is coming along, could see students enjoying themselves. 110 is always special.

More of everything, except fouls, please.

Can someone enlighten me on 'dirt sheets" ?
Dirt sheets are somewhat of a guide to some chants and also contains "dirt" or embarrassing info gathered on the opposing players, which in this case would be Ball State's players / coaches. The O-Zone has used them for a long period of time atleast dating back to the early 00's.
I remember that, when I was 'running' the O Zone, our dirt sheet process included a fake Twitter and Instagram account of an "Ohio Student" that didn't exist. We'd fire off some follow requests to the private accounts of opposing players and usually get accepted. Also would get some realllllly compromising DMs sent to us on occasion, but never used those... no one needs to lose a scholly over banter.
Might consider having accounts like this in the future.
Uh, careful. I got more unsolicited pictures than I ever wanted to know about.
Trust me I will. Can imagine how many D pics you all got, lol.

Also, loved the AD put "Sweet Victory" on the jumbotron just after the fight song ended!

Ball State's forum got pretty interesting in their Ohio thread including mentioning me: https://overthepylon.boards.net/thread/4425/ohio

I was wondering -- obviously we lose guys every year to transfer -- the entire nation does. I couldn't help but notice how little Colin Granger got in terms of time yesterday. Dude was a solid 5 minute backup for an NCAA Tourney team last year and now plays less than our walk-ons. He still looks animated and acts as a great teammate during games. I just wonder if his future is still with us?

I really doubt that it is at this point. If Wilson comes back healthy next year his situation will not improve. If Boals is poached, though, who knows who will stay or go.

Cellis and his section of 20-30 engaged students was good but overall student crowd was really disappointing. I know sports aren't for everyone but I'm certain there are thousands of OU students who are sports fans who were sitting at home last night and I'll simply never be able to understand it. Overall attendance was just meh, announced 4721 probably was about 3500 there.

Very subtle observation but it has confused and annoyed my son every game...why does the scoreboard say "Bonus" when a team gets to 5 fouls instead of 7? Does a setting needing changed in the software somewhere?

Agree that the frequency of whistles was too much. It got really annoying at times. First 12 minutes was very uncharacteristic basketball for us. Lots of turnovers on offense and giving up a lot of points and fouling a lot on defense. Then boy did it turn around. Interesting flow of shooting from BSU:

First 12 mins - 7 for 11
Next 13 mins - 0 for 18
Next 4 mins - 4 for 5
Next 9 mins - 5 for 14
Final 2 mins - 4 for 4

Last night was just what the doctor ordered, Sears only 27 mins, BVP 25, Carter 22. JC was AWESOME. 3 point shot selection as a team was excellent and resulted in 43.5% about as good as we've been. Didn't do great from the line tonight, 17 for 27. Sears missed back to back free throws and he looked like he wanted to put his head thru a wall.

Weekly petition to consider more playing time for Clayton. He just keeps hitting 3s and getting rebounds in his small spurts.

Really small sample size but Adelodun looked SMOOTH out there. His 4 minutes was enough to leave me intrigued. Was fun to see the bench guys get a decent run.

I'm guessing it's left over from the women's game. Since they play four quarters instead of two halves, it's five fouls in a quarter (straight to double bonus).

I enjoyed seeing Luke Frazier out there. His 2nd bucket, a move along the baseline, looked smooth.

I'm pretty sure it was #11 for BS that got his ankles broke. I was texting my Dad that Carter was about to tee off on #11 as JC had just taken him to the hole the possession before.

No less than 30 seconds later we get that cross and dunk. What a beautiful sight it was.

Keep up the great work! This easily could've been a "let down" game as far as student turnout/engagement. A bad Ball State team on a Tuesday night and a sloppy slow start to the game, most years the students would be gone before half.

Dirt sheets are definitely a good idea moving forward. I think it brings a sense of unity among students who probably don't know each other besides the group they came with. Continue to grow the sense of community within the OZone, think that is what has been missing since the glory days.
