Someone asked what color the shoes were the other night https://www.instagram.com/p/CY7UkQBvPGP/?utm_source=ig_we...

Scrolling through the pics of the Miami game it shows they are Orange. On the ESPN cast it was hard to tell red, orange or pink. Guess it is time to get that 4 or 8k tv.

Nope....someone in the Chat asked what color Brown's shoes were and no one could actually tell on the small tube in that oh so brightly lit morgue in Oxford. THe instagram post showed that they were orange in the 3rd or 4th pic. There is no ulterior motive if that is what you are looking for. Just thought I would finish the conversation. I think Sears shoes are new for the Toledo game tonight from what I can see on CBS.

Everyone knows it’s the shoes that make the game. In the early 1960’s, I always ran faster in my Buster Browns.

Borna - Now I see what was meant.

BTC - Shoes matter indeed! I remember like it was yesterday some 50+ years ago and my parents Finally agreed to buy me a pair of new shoes - Converse - for basketball. No more sliding into each step of suicide drills and always finishing last. First practice with the Converse finished in the top couple now able to Finally be able to quickly stop and turn!

Interesting that you felt the need to jump in sarcastically. TO each his own....

For the record ....if "everyone" includes the players... It is pretty easy to to come across many players who ascribe to the thought that shoes make the game... experience shows there are many athletes, growing in number over the years, who put as much or more thought/effort/time into what shoes they are acquiring/wearing than they do working on their game or reading the current scouting report. Shoes jumped the shark long ago. He got shoes replaced he got game in many circles including indulging parents at lower levels. Being a coach I know you immediately visualized athletes that fill that bill.

At Akron East, we were a Converse school - high top whites. The rep from the sporting goods store downtown (maybe SBH can help me out with the name) came to the school and we bought them from him for about $11.50 each. Senior year, our new coach decided to try Pro Keds. One week later, the guy from the sporting goods store was back with Converse shoes.

Understand that...you are showing your age....

While taking care of Ball State Athlete we had 23 of 28 pairs of Nike shoes delaminate leaving shoes with soles flapping in the breeze...I called Nike HQ in Oregon and asked to speak to someone in Quality Control explaining the entire shipment was falling apart..... the mid level person I was talking was consulting her directory and said "I'm not sure where to route you ....we don't have that here"......I responded..."well that is fairly obvious"

I was a few years behind you I think as we switched from Cons to Adidas Superstars but I had a pair of brand new Nike Red Suede high tops that bled all over my socks when I sweat. 1973 ...Nike's transition from Running shoes to Hoops years before they really hit gold in Hoops http://cheapnicesports.com/1210-thickbox_default/nike-red...

Since we're on the topic, has anyone else noticed the recent switch away from high tops by basketball players on all levels? We all wore high tops with the premise that they support your ankles and help prevent turned ankles.

At Firestone we wore green suade Pro Keds low tops. All Ohio Sports on Mill Street in Akron. BTW, Keith Dambrot was our PG.

I was just going to answer Alan when I read your post. My son, an Ohio grad, worked there during the summers in college. The store closed 10 to 15 years ago. It was an interesting building on both the inside and outside. I think it is a restaurant now.

I was looking through some BBall history. He had a great Hoops pedigree. His Pops played at Dusquene and was on a No 1 ranked NIT finalist but the better player was his Uncle that is one of the few players to win an NIT and and NCAA championship in the same year. THe tourney MVP he was selected by the Knicks in the draft....but like many of those NIT teams he was involved in point shaving as was common in that era.

From a Hoops family his BBIQ is well earned. IIRC He was a multi sport athlete wasn't he?

Loved my Chucks…had a green set back in 8th grade…I recall being envious of suede-like Pumas…or was I dreaming?

My favorite pair of basketball shoes I've owned were the Adidas T-Mac 2's (2003).

Growing up in the 90s-00's was awesome.

When I ran track in college, everyone had to have the blue and yellow Nike "waffle trainer".
