A couple years ago, I was behind Kent at the convo, back by the visiting locker room, just before they ran out for pregame warmups 30 minutes or so before a game. My young son was with me as we waited to head out onto the floor to our section.

The profanity-laced “hype up” they did, including MANY uses of the “N word,” stunned me.

Here come The Hoods clutching tiny pearls again.
Sorry guys that you don't understand the difference between the 2 Terms and what amounts to Slang in Music Lyrics.
Funny None of you Clutch your petals about the 3rd Stanza of the National Anthem. Weird. 🤔

PS JEFF BOALS DOESN'T NAZIFY THE GUYS MUSICALLY CHOICES IN THE LOCKER ROOM OR BUS BECAUSE A SLANG WORD MAKES YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE INSIDE AND LEFT OUT.

Stay Classy Kent. Also this is coming from a bench player who doesn't get a lick of the court. Typical.

LOFL. If that "stunned" you wait until you find out what your son gets into in College.

Something like this probably happens in a lot of locker rooms. He was just stupid enough to put it on social media. Funny, if he had worn a shirt that said F*ck the Draft, that's protected speech according to the Supreme Court (Cohen v. California, 1971) and the MAC couldn't legally do anything about. (Yes, there's no draft but there's still registration for selective service.) Wouldn't be surprised if the ACLU goes after the MAC on this one. Won't help Kent's guys today but something like this will likely happen again somewhere.

I'm keeping my eyes on the game tonight. Could be potential for some flagrant fouls and maybe a fight

I'm sorry, but where were the coaches or, at least, grad assistant to stop this?

A friend sent me the video that was posted on Snap-chat, and it was completely Classless Kent State. They obviously do not know how to act when they win a game.
Earlier this season, Kant State won a hard fought game at Akron. Instead of congratulating teammates and shaking hands, most of the Kant team charged across the court and confronted the Akron student section. They were shouting the same type of vulgar language that was involved last night in their locker room. It almost turned into a riot, but security just barely got the Kent players away from the Akron fans and prevented something very ugly from happening.
Where were the Kant coaches when their players charged the Akron fans, and where were the Kant coaches when their players were producing their video to be sent to Snap-chat???

I recall popping into the locker room after a game when Larry Hunter was the coach. I’m thinking around 1997. Blaring loudly was a rap tune and the refrain, playing over and over was “ you MFing bi$&@, murder, murder”. I asked him why he allowed such trash and he just looked at me like I was crazy.

Malique Jacobs had a double/double against OU. That's going to hurt tonight in the first half.

Something similar happened later in the season after a win at CMU with security escorting KSU staff and players off the court.

Then again, they're just kids being kids. Right Bobcatblitz?

I'm conflicted, while at times it's disrespectful I still friggin love trash talk among players. It brings more attention to games

The original Twitter link is inactive. What was the video?

Edit: Found it. Pretty stupid, and not the classiest thing, but surprised by the suspensions. What were they suspended for? Profanity? Does the MAC have an athlete code of conduct or something?

I assume it's for the "F*** Akron" and calling out player numbers for Akron. "F*** number 2, f*** number 4"

Is there a rule against cursing? I get it's classless, but trying to understand what rule was broken. I guess some vague "conduct unbecoming" charge from the University.

I'm thinking it's conduct vague to the university as well but it's not known if Senderoff or MAC office gave out the punishment. I agree, not the most classiest thing to do but they are likely staying the same things the Akron Rowdies were screaming at them last time these teams met.
