1. Why are all members of the dance team masked up while no cheerleaders are?

2. Why so few replays on OUr relatively new, state-of-the-art scoreboard? And absolutely no replays of calls that refs may have missed? MAC regulations?

3. Why does the MAC still have all teams play on Friday night in season finales now that there are no tournament first-round games on Tuesday? Play them on Saturday and all 8 teams participating in the tourney have plenty of time to rest up for Thursday's quarterfinals.

4. Will we ever see Boals wear a suit and/or tie from the Bobcat bench?

5. What time does Norm arrive at the Convo to get his first row GA seats?

6. Does playing in the nicest arena in the MAC in front of the best/biggest crowd mean Ohio is always taking opposing teams' best efforts?

7. Will we see Boals tending bar at Tony's later Friday night similar to having Danny Nee serving drinks at Tony's after games 40 years ago?

All good questions. I'd like to know the answers. However, #6 is the most intriguing to me.

The last 2-3 weeks have been a bummer. We throw that crowd and energy out there last night and - implosion. I have a ton of thoughts but, at the end of the day, it is all about Cleveland.

1. Good thought but looking around College basketball that seems to be consistent. "Yell" leaders do not wear masks it seems.

2. That is absolutely a good question as there are NO replays on our screens while nightly you can watch coaches, players and teams from major conferences looking up at the boards to see the replays.

3. Wonder if MAC office didn't get the memo. Saturday games would draw better but Friday gives a team heading to Northern an extra day of rest if played Friday.

4. Not sure if you got the memo but the entire coaching profession decided to wear polos and sweats this year. Only Stackhouse and a few others are wearing suits as has been customary for years. Time will tell what happens.

I have no interest in much past that and I have the attention span of a two year old so someone else can pick up the others.

#6. If the teams are fairly evenly matched up, playing in the Convo can guarantee that the Bobcats will get the best shot from the contenders who get as jacked up as the home team if the crowd is engaged and 8,000 plus. The louder the crowd, the better the energy level for both teams.

This post brings to light several of my thoughts as well. I’ll specifically comment on #6. I think in the case of opponents, it’s the one game during the year (except for maybe one or two of their OOC games) when they are playing in a game with a relatively big time feel to it…big arena, big crowd, often national TV. Consequently, they are excited in a “let’s just play hard, enjoy, and ruin their night” kind of way and we, trying so hard to win for the fans and maintain program excitement, put undue pressure on ourselves.

I m very surprised by the choice not to ask THE question from Friday's game:

Why is the assistant ticket manager threatening to eject me and my friends from the arena?

I'm wondering, that in 'pick-em' games over the years, if we have a losing record in the Convo, for the reasons mentioned above.

Sounds like a story that needs to be shared.

I thought I was the only one who thought that. Seems odd that it could be THE question if only a few have the particulars.

Truth is, I wasn't wondering this because I wasn't threatened to be kicked out. I wasn't sitting with this group of fans during the first half. I joined them at halftime when an athletic department employee had a discussion with them about their language during the first half.

So we enforce language but not mask mandates? Interesting.

Pretty sad when members of the band complain about the cheer "Muck Fiami," or its other form.

Idon't know about the language issue, but enforcing any mask mandate in Athens now would put us way behind the rest of the world! Hopefully Athens City Schools will come to their senses and allow our children to return to school after spring break with parents making the decision if their kids need to wear masks or not.

Good luck with that!!!! I agree, but good luck!

Athens City Council is voting tonight on whether to extend the mask mandate.

And makes me wonder... do any of those star players on the opposing team that we have made offers to, wish they would have chosen to play in front of the Ohio Nation fans for their home games?

I've long wondered this. I used to think nah, but I recognize more and more that psyche and adrenaline are huge factors. All I know is in our 2 best crowds of the year BY FAR, our opponents looked like an NBA team. But I'd rather be in this position than have a crappy atmosphere that lulls opponents to sleep.

+1 Masks for kids never made any sense. Follow the data. It's really clear. Why have countries like the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and even the nut house known as Australia -- and many others -- never required kids to wear masks?

Vaccines for healthy children and youths 18 and younger never made sense either. In the U.S we've had less than 500 Covid deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in that age cohort of 73 million, and the vast majority of those were kids with serious underlying disease.

Two other thoughts I forgot to mention: If I wake up earlier enough the next morning will I be able to join OCF in his weekly pickup basketball game? Does OCF still have his weekly Saturday morning pickup basketball?

Well, glad you got into the real serious issues. I'll be glad to answer your questions.

We have not had our pickup games during the pandemic, so it's been about two years since we last played. We've been told we will not be allowed back in the middle school gym. They are probably still upset about the time Al Swank broke the backboard hanging on the rim after a monster dunk. We now have a possibility of another venue, and there's chance we will start up again next month.
