Not much to say. HUGE game. I hope the Convo atmosphere is out of this world and a big TV audience takes it in on CBS Sports Network.

Dark horse candidate for player of the game: Roderick. If he hits some threes tonight I love our chances.
That horse is pretty dark so far. Lost defensively, 0 points, 2 fouls. He's just a body out there thus far.

Just got home and put on the game for this little run. Big play by Towns. Convo sounds loud.

Rollins and Dennis have been beyond outstanding tonight. What a solid Toledo team. All you can do is tip the cap and learn.

Jason Carter injury... Please be okay.

Toledo is GOOD. They’re going to have to start missing or there is no hope.

We allowed too much dribble penetration and on offense, too much iso ball, we don’t move without the ball. We just stand at the three point line, no cutting. We have too all Mac bigs that never establish themselves in the post. We have to fix that. Toledo got so many steals by just staying in the passing lanes. Any athletic team that watches video can scheme for us.

I knew this was going to be rough when token pressure caused a Sears TO to start. For the first time in a while I was disappointed in OUr effort.

Arkley says he was being treated for cramping.

Sears is spectacular and I am not looking to dump on him, but he needs to step up in big games to take his game to the next level. Look at his stat lines against LSU, Kentucky and from tonight. It’s like the opposite of what Preston did when the spotlight shined on him.

For some reason, he can’t hit a clutch three point shot this year. Sample size is getting pretty deep now. Might be time to start giving Towns more of his minutes.

This should be a wake up call for the team. We have coasted by with a very soft schedule last month and a half. Toledo is a top 100 team and the clean our clock. We looked sloppy and piss poor on defense in the first half. Poor foul shooting and dumb offensive fouls back o back killed momentum. Clayton out clearly hurt depth. Boals in a tough spot. Ezuma not ready for key minutes. A disaster for him. Hope Carter ok because we have nothing right now behind him. This loss brought us back to earth. Now Boals can refocus the team before the stretch run. We had a off night. This was a big game and we failed to get the job done tonite. Team totally collapsed after Carter left.

I would bet good money that the next time we play Toledo, they won't be killing us on the dribble drive like tonight.

I would bet money that nobody left on the schedule does it.

Well... this one was a stinger.

Was in the O-Zone for all of tonight and I have to say it was the loudest I've heard the Convo in my time on campus. But we got straight out played tonight. Clayton out extremely hurt us. Ezuma - meh game tonight. Potential is there but just couldn't finish the deal. Knew they were going to crowd Sears at the start.

Not an excuse, but does that bald ref always have a problem with us? Called some soft fouls away from offensive play then misses blatant ones on Toledo? Screw off!

I hope Carter is ok, didn't look very good - not a doctor but looked like minimal severe cramp worst case torn Achilles. I hope he's ok.

Also, I'm going to take blame for jinxing the boys tonight... Wrote "AP RANK US" on my poster.

Only other positive thing - BVP noticed my "ONE MORE YEAR?" sign and smiled. Hope he liked it.

Creighton, cough, cough

Not too worried about this game other than finding a way of stopping dribble penetration by the two taller guards. McDay might have helped in this one but, oh well…

Towns should get more minutes for sure. I very clearly remember JT getting a post up on the baseline and as Sam came to help JT quickly changed his mind and kicked it out, even though he had the advantage on the guy guarding him…

AJ coming back will help with outside shooting and getting some rest minutes for JC and BVP… Unfortunately, specifically talking about Toledo, they have such mobile “bigs”, he may struggle a bit with man to man D…

Looking at our previous years team performance stats per Torvik, the last two Boals Ohio teams have peaked at the end of the season and, I expect this team will too…

Go Bobcats!

After confirming he has another potential year left, Russ said he asked BVP on Tuesday if it would be his last trip to Oxford? His response. - “I don’t know, we’ll see.”

I love Sears also and God knows we wouldn’t be the team we are without him, but I was disappointed with his body language when we were down. He didn’t step up as a leader when it’s obvious guys look to him. I saw Coach Boals challenge him in many different ways (encouragement, screaming, staring,) and nothing seemed to work. It’s easy to be a leader when you’re winning.. it’s when the chips are against you and that’s when the real leaders shine. Unfortunately, it looks like Sears still has to grow up a little. I know he’s young, so I look forward to seeing him grow into that leadership role.

I noticed that as well. I just hope this is a learning experience and maturing experience for him. I'm sure he will bounce back. He really seemed to appreciate us in the student section encouraging him on after his shots started to fall.

It sounded really loud on TV. It has been awhile since we have had a student turnout like that... well done!

I hope the loss doesn't dampen enthusiasm, but honestly a good enemy is as great of a motivator as any!

...

That first possession of the game set the tone for me. We played great defense for the entire shot clock (nearly forcing a turnover at one point) then as the shot clock was about to expire Toledo hit a 3 with hands in their face. Nothing you can do about that, and that was the story for much of the game (including multiple times as we made a run and seemed to have momentum)

On the positive side, it was good to see us mount a comeback in the 2nd half. We came out of the half firing and playing aggressive defense which was great to see. At times it felt to me like we were forcing 3's a bit but Toledo deserves credit for shutting down Sears ability to drive to the basket. The and-one Sears' had on the fastbreak as he was literally triple teamed is SportsCenter Top 10 material if we had actually pulled of the comeback. No clue how he finished that. Wish he could have drawn some more fouls driving the basket late in the game to get to the line.

The air definitely came out of the building when Carter got hurt. I hope that Arkley is correct and it was a bad cramp and not something structural. He was definitely in pain.

Crazy we see these guys again in 2.5 weeks. I'm now trying to talk myself into a Tuesday trek to Toledo (things no one says)
