Without exaggeration, you showed how dramatically one person can change an atmosphere. For those of us around the program for years, it was special to see. I didn’t know if we’d ever get that kind of student energy again. It just makes everything more fun and the team and program are so much better for it when the Ozone is jumping. Normally 25 wins would mean a great season, but the really great thing that happened this year was in the bleachers and not on the court.
Thanks RJ! While I disagree with "on court" - thought we played amazing basketball with the exception of the end of the year - I agree with how with many students involved in the game makes it so much more fun - leading WT/LT against Fiami / Central will remain in my memories forever.

A very nice way to put it. I agree wholeheartedly!
I’ve heard some idiotic things here, but this takes the cake. We had a great season. These guys gave it everything they had and won 25 games, yet you say cheering fans were the bright spot?
In 2 ways - yes

1. the constant return of actual fans to the stands after the impact of the pandemic. over the past 2 seasons

and

2. the return of a formal, organized student section.

Yes, I've heard some idiotic things here - how's that cake taste?
When you put it that way, I agree that it's good to have student involvement and more people back to the games. The crow tastes good, too.

We played 3 players this year who would not have started had we the team we expected to have. This could have been a nightmare season but they managed to win 25 games. Given the givens, I call it a very successful year.
If fans should take into account the loss of Preston, McDay and Wilson, which we should, shouldn't we also take into account the extremely weak schedule OUr team played.
Of course, but my point was about players not schedule. Winning 25 games while losing 3 starters, regardless of schedule, is impressive to me.

weak schedule? belmont is always a scrappy team and we won by 12. Lsu and kentucky at their place were tough games. we played kentucky tight most of the way and played repsectable vs lsu. we may not have had a tough schedule but it wasnt the easiest either.

I think it was probably the weakest schedule in school history mostly because it was the weakest ever version of the MAC.

That's why in evaluating strength of schedule, only non-comference games should be included.

Apparently giacomo does not value the student/fans contribution to success - Like 6th man/students game support is totally irrelevant...jeesh....

Maybe Zelinski didn't have many fans rooting for him back in the day.
