I’m very big on the metrics and despite the Bobcats recent skid, KenPom is still high on Ohio. They give the Bobcats the 2nd best odds of winning the MAC Tournament at 19.4%.

Toledo is the overwhelming favorites as expected but we’re listed higher than Kent State, Buffalo and Akron and considered big favorites against Ball State in the quarterfinals.

KenPom must think Sincere Carry is still playing at Duquesne.

Ken is putting too much value on the away games at UK and LSU... those were early in the season. Belmont lost for the second time (last night) this season to Morehead, so that early win is going to take a hit. I hate to be negative about this but a team that couldn't beat NIU (8-22) isn't going to win the MAC tournament and is not listed on the most recent NIT projected field I saw.

They have some recognized names from the wrong side of the bubble in the NIT

Florida
VaTech
SMU
Indiana
Oregon
Oklahoma
Mississippi State
Virginia
South Carolina

***Florida and SMU still have a decent shot at an at-large in the NCAA.

An interesting name is Longwood. (who??)
They currently trail cupcake SC Upstate at the half today.
24 wins over a mostly pathetic schedule just won't get you much respect. Thus the rule about regular season champs losing in the conf. tourney getting an automatic birth will hurt some more deserving teams.

Not deserving: "Grand Canyon" - the only American college to ever be insulted in a movie by "Borat." They are in 5th place in the very very weak WAC and still projected to be in the NIT? How much would Colangelo have to pay to get them in?

I'd put $50 on Kent State winning it all this year. A path of Miami, a reeling OU or Balls and likely Toledo? Yeah they're licking their chops.

That being said, if by some miracle Miami beats them, and we find a way to get by Balls - then I'd still say Toledo is the favorite but we'd have a punchers chance.

That’s about right. Hope we’re wrong!

I think we are gassed from playing a short bench all year.

Hopefully these couple extra days of rest before the MAC Tournament starts gives our legs the break we need. If I were Boals, I would not work the guys hard at all these next couple days.
