The proverbial Bull in the China Shop. 5 fouls in 5 minutes.
12 minutes. But nice try. He's made significant progress this year.
Progress? Expand for those of us who missed it ... 12 minutes, 0-3 in FG's, bricks a FT and a couple rebounds. Is there MORE I missed??
If THAT is your only take away, then yes you missed a lot.
He single-handedly provided two defensive stops that led to transition buckets for us in the first half which gave us some momentum and turned into 2 big 3's right after. It was our first really good offensive spurt of the game after looking like deja vu all over again from the tip. All started with defensive energy and intensity from IJ.
Plus, he gave an ailing Carter just enough rest to play all-out when he was on the floor which resulted in a 20/18 line for JC. The missing piece during our recent skid. That likely doesn't happen if he was forced to play 35 minutes instead of 29 minutes. IJ's minutes were huge.
But sure, focus on the points for a freshman big. That's all that matters.
I said before and I'll say again, I don't care if he fouls out every single game. Use his minutes. Use his energy. Use his size. Use his rebounding. Run him until the refs say he's done. We need it. Especially if we have ANY dream of winning 3 games in 3 days.
Now - Kent tomorrow is gonna be a tall test. My magic 8 ball isn't feeling great about it.
