Win and advance. Bobcats got back to basics with Carter inside. A rested team tonite put Ball State away in second half.

12 minutes. But nice try. He's made significant progress this year.

+1. Dude deserves more minutes. Lord knows this team needs the depth inside. I don't care if he fouls out every single game. If he plays defense and rebounds and plays with energy like tonight? Run him.

When the energy was kinda stale, I wanted IJ back in. The block against the back board sounded so damn loud lol

The 5 fouls in 5 minutes was sarcasm. The responses did intrigue me enough to check the box score. 12 minutes 0 points-3 rebounds-5 fouls. Not raggin on the kid fully realize he’s a project that tends to play like a bull in the China shop. Not everyone that comes in as a freshman will be Leon-esque. Go Bobcats!

IJ Ezuma playing some defense
Boals must read the boards. Been begging for more mins from IJ.
Why -- more minutes?? So he can foul out yet again. He's a project for sure.
I would call him more "raw" and not a "project".

This will be a big summer for IJ. Needs to work on his hands, defensive positioning, offensive moves and free throws. Wow...that's a lot I just mentioned. He has the body. Have to remember he's only 18. I don't think he's as far off as many people think to being a solid contributor next year. With that said, he should have dunked the ball when he went to left hand and was rejected. He'll learn.

I have big faith that he will come around during his time here. He’s made a lot of progress since we first saw him on the court during the Mount St Mary’s game. He can rebound and play energetic on defense, just needs to clean up the fouls and free throw shooting. I agree with you on the hands as well. Dropped a few gimme passes this year. But, I have hope he’ll be a major depth piece going forward with Carter leaving. Plus he’ll have Wilson to mentor off of.

Agree. He has the potential to be a major force in the paint. Needs "polish" on what you mention as well as better concentration and BBIQ awareness, the dude can be a truck, but trucks need good drivers....{Boals)

Progress? Expand for those of us who missed it ... 12 minutes, 0-3 in FG's, bricks a FT and a couple rebounds. Is there MORE I missed??

If THAT is your only take away, then yes you missed a lot.

He single-handedly provided two defensive stops that led to transition buckets for us in the first half which gave us some momentum and turned into 2 big 3's right after. It was our first really good offensive spurt of the game after looking like deja vu all over again from the tip. All started with defensive energy and intensity from IJ.

Plus, he gave an ailing Carter just enough rest to play all-out when he was on the floor which resulted in a 20/18 line for JC. The missing piece during our recent skid. That likely doesn't happen if he was forced to play 35 minutes instead of 29 minutes. IJ's minutes were huge.

But sure, focus on the points for a freshman big. That's all that matters.

I said before and I'll say again, I don't care if he fouls out every single game. Use his minutes. Use his energy. Use his size. Use his rebounding. Run him until the refs say he's done. We need it. Especially if we have ANY dream of winning 3 games in 3 days.

Now - Kent tomorrow is gonna be a tall test. My magic 8 ball isn't feeling great about it.

I don't give a crap either if the dude fouls out. We just need his minutes and can hope he plays solid defense and rebounds. We know right now he can't do much on the offensive end. If he gives minutes and rebounds...he's helping.

All of this is true, but he has so far to go to be a truly valuable and reliable contributor. Not only did he foul out, he probably committed five fouls that weren't called. I've yet to see him set a single screen and not move, for example. Those offensive fouls are especially painful.

They're turnovers. Just like missing the front end of a 1-and-1 is a turnover or 0 for 2 at the line is a turnover (by my unofficial statistical metrics).

+2. I thought it was IJ's best game of the year especially bringing the intensity and leaving Carter fresh to have an outstanding game, probably his best of the year too.
