Tough slugfest. Seemed like every time I looked up we were down by 6 pts again.

We looked good during that little spurt where Sears used his speed to get down the court and made quick decisions.

Our offense is completely lost. JC and BVP look gassed in the paint. (Hence why I want more IJ minutes just to have a big body down there).

Incredibly frustrating. If NIU hadn't fouled so much, we would have lost by 20. Wish Sears would have taken it to the hoop at the end instead of trying the step back 3.
Roderick had zero points and what, 3 boards? He played 24 mins. How is Adelodun not getting more run? Ezuma has an edge to him we are missing right now. Those 2 need more mins.

Eh - talk of Olumide and Ezuma starting or getting lots of PT is nothing but desperation at this point. Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Yes - see my post in Ball St thread regarding JC's lack of production recently. Definitely showing up in Pts in paint and rebounds as you see here.

When you shoot 33% from the floor you will be out rebounded in most games. That's not necessarily an effort issue when 3 out of 4 rebounds on your misses are going to be gathered by the other team it's just basic math. We are also not a good offensive rebounding team so when we can't throw it in the ocean we are also not good at getting those extra possessions.

In Arkley's recap article Boals is quoted saying they have to find a way to get Sears going early. I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, we are only going as far as he can take us and he can't wait until we are in a hole to get it going.

Unless we plan on Sears going for 30-40 in Cleveland, he's going to need some help. He either needs both of BVP and Carter being on, or at least one of them and *insert random good game from another player here*.

Point is Sears is the one guy who can't have an off night for us to win. There was a game not long ago that the play by play guy said we were something like 19-0 when he scored at least 15 points. That stat no longer holds true after he got 20 by a late barrage of threes in a recent loss but it does help make the point we go as he goes for the most part.

Let's not exempt our beloved BVP. If he was even half of his usual self, we wouldn't won. 0 field goals. Doesn't seem possible. Only grabbed 3 boards and 1 assist. How can someone so involved and everywhere be so non-existent in a single game?

To me winning the 1st round in Cleveland is a lot mroe important than people may realize. Ending on a 4 game skid & 5 of 6 is a really bad look that sends our players home frustrated, and makes recruits scratch their head at how a coaching staff can allow a team to fall apart so bad. Like most, I don't have great hopes for beating Kent & Toledo...but I hope he at least get one W.
