Sorry if this has been covered already. I see Towns on the bench but hasn’t played for awhile.

Anything on that?

He played today. I'd say Adelodun has earned some confidence from the staff and his minutes have eaten into Towns's minutes. Maybe that's all that has happened.

I don't understand the lack of playing time. I know he went down hard a couple weeks ago, but if he's in uniform, I'd assume he's healthy enough to play. I felt like he was doing pretty well with the minutes he was getting, but maybe he just fell out of favor with the coaching staff.

As always, the portal watch in April is going to be very interesting.

I'd absolutely hate to lose Towns. If you look at our roster he's the only non-post player with any real length on the whole team (maybe Clayton but he's a PF, not a wing, who just shoots 3s).

Towns is still only a sophomore and definitely still growing into his body. Wasn't he recruited at 6-6 or 6-7 but is now 6-9?

That kind of length is exactly what this team is lacking against P5/NCAA type teams. Now it seems Towns needs to work on his 3PT shot (currently 3-17) and is still a bit turnover prone. But those are things you hope he continues to work on in off season. Again, if he can knock down 33% from 3 and use his length to play D and rebound from the wing - what a 3 and D asset he could become. Who else could even fit that profile?

Alas in today's basketball climate we'll likely see some folks hitting the portal. I just really hope it's not Sam.

I'm hoping he doesn't go into the portal either. Great rebounder and D guy who has the potential to shoot and dunk. Agree with potentially losing 1-2 to the portal but crossing my fingers it isn't him. He had a great layup to get BVP the triple double last night.

Is Towns even considered a 3? From what I've seen, ball handling is not a strong point in his game. Seems more like a 4 to me.

Kevin Durant could. Kevin Garnett.

Maybe he should change his name to Kevin Towns and see what could happen.

The better question might be is he a solid D-1 forward at any spot on the floor. His best other offers out of h.s. iirc were MTSU and Cleveland State.

MTSU is 21-7 and in first place in C-USA after beating Marshall the other night. He would be their 9th or 10th best player this season. CSU just fell to 19-9. He might be their #8 or #9 guy going by current stats. Sometimes a really good team guy just doesn't end up being a great player. Towns is not terrible but he may have reached his ceiling. He might be as good as he's going to get.

Tend to agree with this. Towns had a run early in spurts, but I haven't seen enough out of him yet that says he is going to be a 10-15 minute contributor his last two seasons.

As many have mentioned, it's going to be interesting to see which Bobcats hit the portal after this season.

Not sure if anyone noticed/called it out but Sam was at the end of the bench in street clothes. Any ideas why?

I don't really get why he's in the doghouse but my gut tells me he will not be in Athens next year. Same with Granger.

Sad to think Sam won’t be back. He showed he could play good defense but he’s just not what Boals wants offensively I guess. Not that it would hurt to move Same to the 4 instead of BRod

It just sucks because I felt like he was going to take the next step this year and really contribute but obviously it has not panned out that way.

And with the incoming class I can't imagine him sticking around. That's just my honest opinion.

I don't know Sam can chuck and brick 3s with the best of them. That appears to be Boals offensive strategy no?
