A year that supposedly is a down year for the MAC overall is giving us one of the best Friday night final fours in many years. Both in terms of the participating teams and the individual players.
MAC was down this year because there was no middle tier and the expanded bottom tier was awful (6-12). The top 5 were always really good and completely separated themselves from the rest of the league. Because of that I'm not shocked it's chalk to the semis - and all the remaining teams have a legit shot.
Doesn't this feel like the exact same story every year? You can pencil in some combo of Ohio, Akron, Kent, Buffalo, Toledo or Miami (in their good years) and then the rest is a roulette wheel. Every once in a while one of the other rises up while one of the top programs is having a down year.
