I counted only 5 total backdown offensive sets with Hadaway and Simmons. Amazing ehat happens when we pass and share. Nineteen assists? Amazing. Nice win Cats. Go get the Broncs, have fun with Old Dominion and hand Fiami its first loss.

If Boehls had spent this year, developing Kuany and Burris, by losing Sheldon‘s minutes, I think this might’ve been a much better team.

Burris and Kuany gave solid mins today. If we are going to have Hadaway bringing the ball up, why not allow he and Breath and Kuany to play with, say, Conners and Pavs, in a rotation?

So much for slowing games down and playing scores in the 60s!

Oh ye of such little faith. Man I'd hate to have to go into battle with many of you Debbie Downers here on BA.

Would be surprised if we can compete
Our shooting will be cold they'll beat us by a dozen. "Nice 24 point whiff"
What's the over and under on T's?
Simmons probably wasn't wanted back in Toledo
Are we sure we want Simmons back next year?
Fire Boals

Very fine road win without being hot from 3 land.

Add what did Breath, Kuany, Conners, Burris significantly contribute? The starting 5 core executed - what we need.

Great game and shows why fans who swear off their team, accept loss pre-game and stop watching are fools. You never know when your team is gonna turn the corner, maybe that was today. Or maybe it was just a good game. Either way it was fun to watch.

Simmons was obviously great, Pavs ran the point well and got to the line effectively even if his shot wasn't there, and Kelly was solid yet again. But guess what...Hadaway and Sheldon were both awesome. Hadaway 1 for 1 from 3, the only open look he got and he took it. Otherwise he got in in the paint with a big pair of balls today. I hope coaches said on the bus back "that...be that. That's your game." And Sheldon had several heads up plays. He may have missed his calling as a defensive back...he sure can sniff out the pass and grab the interception. He didn't have many final passes for assists but was a key part of the excellent ball movement today.

My only gripe, I don't get Conners with only 3 minutes while Burris gets 9...but whatever. I still just have a gut feeling we are underrating what Conners is capable of. As usual we mostly sucked from 3 while our opponent was good. The difference was we forced the game inside better. We have to make this our offensive approach.

Agree with Freitag, he reminds me of Aaron Craft...making a career out of looking like he got fouled. Irritating. Also love seeing a college student with a similarly balding head as mine in Batchelor.

Buffalo brings out the best in us. I'd love to see them in a 4/5 game, snipe overrated Miami in the semis and hope for the best against Akron.

Nice win. I thought the much-maligned Sheldon played one of his better games. Simmons had a monster game with 24 points and 13 rebounds -- best in a Bobcat uniform, I believe. Captain Chaos had 19 points, 9 rebounds, no technicals and no flagrants. Pavs had an incredible 11 assists. Just great game all around.

My remaining question, to be decided in upcoming games, is can we have the same inside presence against teams like Miami, Toledo, UMass and even WMU. If so, we'll be on a roll. If not, it'll be back to square one.

I think this is where everyone’s thinking is today on this. Ohio played its best game of the season, but clearly Buffalo has regressed. I know they beat BG coming in, but the Bulls have now lost 6 of 7 and going nowhere. And now clearly, Bowling Green isn’t who people thought they could be. I mean, my goodness, they lost to Central Michigan last night. So I’m not sure how much stock anyone can put into the Bulls win over BG. Granted BG crushed us on our own court.

Also, Buffalo’s bigs were just atrocious yesterday. Did the mafia get to Buffalo again? Is this fools gold for Ohio or can it put up these numbers against a Miami, an Akron, a Kent State, a Toledo? Can they win at UMASS? It’s just hard for me to think right now that Ohio just suddenly found the secret sauce until they do it against one of the best teams in the conference.

And hats off to Sheldon. I am one of his biggest critics and it was good to see him make some of his world famous off-balanced jumpers

We are at least getting close to the point where we can stop worrying about missing Cleveland altogether. However, being the 7 or 8 seed and having to open with Miami or Akron is still something to avoid.

It's still our best option moving forward. Not every team we face plays 0 defense like the Beefs. There's a reason our offense always magically looks good, and therefore we seem to have good games against them....and then we face Kent/Akron/Toledo and crap the bed. #Defense.

I mean it's not a national secret we suck at shooting 3s - but thrive on close/midrange 2's between Hadaway/Simmons/Pavs/Kelly.

Good defensive teams take that away from us and we struggle.
Beefs? We scored 95 and only made 5 3s. We went 30-47 from 2 against them 64%! Because they let us get the shots we wanted vs the shots they forced us to take.

Of more immediate concern, how do you rate WMU's defense? Does it have pulse?

Based on Adjusted (for both pace and quality of oppenent) Defensive Efficiency (Per Torvik). Team defense ranks in MAC, national rank in parenthesis:

1 (100). Bowling Green - 105.0
2 (121). Akron - 106.3
3 (142). UMass - 107.3
4 (146). Eastern Michigan - 107.6
5 (149). Kent St - 107.7
6 (156). Miami - 108.3
7 (229). Ohio - 110.8
8 (240). Northern Illinois - 111.2
9 (243). Ball St - 111.5
10 (252). Toledo - 112.0
11 (270). Central Michigan - 113.2
12 (314). Buffalo - 116.5
13 (323). Western Michigan - 117.6

That's full season totals. If you don't buy/agree with quality of opponent adjustments then conference only ranks are:
1. Akron - 101.4
2. Kent St - 106.8
3. NIU - 107.5
4. Bowling Green - 107.8
5. Miami - 109.1
6. EMU - 109.7
7. Ohio - 109.9
8. CMU - 110.0
9. UMass - 110.3
10. Toledo - 112.3
11. Ball St - 113.4
12. Buffalo - 117.0
13. WMU - 117.6

Thank you, very much. On paper this looks good for OHIO. It has me dreaming of another W. After Tuesday, though, it looks like the sledding will get a little tougher. BTW, do you know where ODU ranks on thse metrics?

ODU would fit middle of the pack right between Miami and us.

1 (100). Bowling Green - 105.0
2 (121). Akron - 106.3
3 (142). UMass - 107.3
4 (146). Eastern Michigan - 107.6
5 (149). Kent St - 107.7
6 (156). Miami - 108.3

7 (229). Ohio - 110.8
8 (240). Northern Illinois - 111.2
9 (243). Ball St - 111.5
10 (252). Toledo - 112.0
11 (270). Central Michigan - 113.2
12 (314). Buffalo - 116.5
13 (323). Western Michigan - 117.6

Agree on all accounts - that we should expect a W against WMU. That puts us at 13-11. And that the sledding gets tough from there. My+Torvik expected final record is 14-18....so you do the math. That's what 1-7 after WMU?

ODU is a toss up, though Boals tends to de-emphasize these late season non-con games. After that you're looking to beat Balls at home, and another coin-flip at NIU. Outside that....gonna be tough.
