Interesting scheme. Certainly don't condone it but with the irregular application of the rules for transfer - tosu qb for one - it kind of makes you shake your head and wonder.

Isn't it funny how they ruled on this yet with FBI evidence can't go after Kansas, Arizona, and LSU?

I think it was Borna who used to post, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Kansas was found guilty of several recruiting violations so the NCAA is slapping Buffalo with sanctions." Or something like that.

both of them within 34 seconds of one another. The first one said "tip of the iceberg?"

So, just curious, what OSU QB are you referring too?

This could have been a lot worse, and I'm sure much worse things happen that don't get caught, though it certainly deserves punishment. A teammate agreed to write something to aid the player's case for immediate eligibility and then failed to follow through, so an assistant coach faked it. At least there was some kind of real reason and the whole thing was not made up. I am curious, though, why the teammate didn't do what he said he would.

Maybe it was all made up and the teammate got cold feet in the end and wouldn’t follow through. Just saying.

They didn't "rule" on this. The parties agreed to a settlement. Makes you wonder why they can't do the same with the big boys. (Of course they can; they just don't want to.)

That being said, Buffalo's penalty is basically a slap on the wrist. A $5,000 fine and a few days off from recruiting is nothing. The coach, however, gets essentially a three-year ban.

That's what I was wondering, or at the very least maybe it was exaggerated.

Jerry Tarkanian was the originator of “The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation.”

Three years for faking an email.

Burn it all down.

This article is dated 21 APR 2020. The penalties mentioned are for the 20-21 season. Am I missing something?

All the comments were from then as well. Someone posted and then deleted a comment which brought it to the top. I'm guessing spam.

Somewhat unrelated, but Kansas also self-reported minor violations within their football program which eventually got David Beatty fired so Jeff Long could hire his buddy Les Miles. Some believe this was all to distract the NCAA from the basketball program.
