Great! Putting in extra time as a complete team to bond over the summer and, the trip to Spain to get some early team practices and game time experience with film; essentially the best possible combination for our young team.

Go Bobcats!

P.S. I realize that even though they are all here during the summer, they are limited in the “team” basketball practices…

Do they or must they take some classes in the summer to justify their presence? Do they stay in the dorms? We didn’t do this back in my day, the Stone Age.

Ha! I guess you don’t know either. There must be some protocol. I have a client who is a D1 coach. I’ll ask him.

He says maximum 4 hours per week organized practice and they have to take summer classes. It’s all paid for and is part of the scholarship. I asked him if it was mandatory and what if a kid had an internship or summer job. He said they all are there but there could be a good reason if they didn’t attend. They would be behind the others if they didn’t.

Either he or Thornton mentioned in a recent interview he is wrapping up class requirements at Tulane still.

Given the problems with airlines to Europe let's hope they take a charter to Spain and off-load their own luggage. Otherwise they might never see their bags again and might have to borrow unis from the teams they're playing.

I heard something about a trip to Europe back in May. Have I missed an official announcement?

A charter to Spain and back for 25 persons or so , would cost about 500k to 800K

Neither. Just pointing out that the team will probably be flying commercial and that a "charter" to Spain is probably not going to happen.

One possible exception would be if other schools are doing European preseason trips ,there could be an option for sharing jet costs.
