I lived in the Convo my freshman year.

I saw two future nba players play for the Bobcats that season. Snoop and Jamerson.

I have seen my Bobcats win a first rd ncaa tournament game in person. Nashville.

I have seen my Bobcats take #1seed UNC to overtime in a sweet sixteen game in person.

I drove to lexington to see our guys led by gary trent play uk. I did not prepurchase tix. I wound up seeing game at a bar due to sold out.

Got a ncaa chair used by team from nashville and stl.

Half a piece of the court from convo. Thinks its 4×6'. Its still wrapped from day we drove it home.

Ive only met saul and jeff in person, no other Ohio hoops HC.

I almost always fly wearing bobcat gear. Almost always get comments.

Odd? More like "really cool!"

You have me beat by a mile:

I have a similar piece of the Convo floor

Met Clark Kellogg when his son was playing in one of our games at Bowling Green

Met Larry Hunter - my dad played against him in high school

My dad played on Ohio's freshman team back when that was a thing, then worked on the construction crew that built the Convo (and the one that built Alden Library). His accomplishments, not mine, but I gotta brag on him.

I was going to make this much more detailed but typing on a cel at work caused me to shorten things considerably.

Im looking forward to if some of my peers have hoops idiosyncracies also!

I got to know Larry Hunter quite well - well enough to lunch with him in Athens and with his wife to participate in some pre-game events that I organized during my term as head of the Akron-Canton Alumni Chapter at Akron, Kent and Cleveland State. I enjoyed his company.

This has a chance to be the greatest BA thread of all-time. When I get some time this weekend, I'll drop my odd relationship with Ohio Hoops stories. Well done Obc2.

I weirdly didn't start getting into the basketball team until my Junior year. I'm not really really sure why, but I think I didn't know you could go to the games for free or something. Or I was too busy learning how to play XBox with other students across campus through the LAN (this was before internet gave us XBox live so we had to coordinate via telephone when we'd be online and WOW does that feel weird to type).

And I love ball. I played and was recruited to an NAIA school out of high school. Once I did start going to the games though, I was all in. I fondly remember wearing my O Zone shirt during my shifts at Shively Dining Hall then walking over to the Convo on many cold winter nights. I can still feel the crispness of the air and the crunch of the snow while walking through Emereti Park. Coming home off a big win and traversing the cat walks on "New" South Green was also a fond memory. Sigh, can we go back?

The most memorable games for me personally were the wins over WMU (Ben Reed), Miami (Mason, Horace, St. Clair, Peavy, Hausfeld) and Buffalo (Fears hit six threes) at home during our 2005 run. The Buffalo game was especially awesome because it was a midweek game and the crowd was awesome, though I don't remember how big.

Looking back at that schedule, SO MANY awesome weekend games. Holy heck bring this back.

Great post. I have similar memories, but from an earlier era.

I quickly was drawn into Ohio hoops with the 2021 Tourney run and win against Virginia, and the only reason I watched was my girlfriend had just been admitted to OU that fall and was still deciding between a few colleges including OU. Quickly was hooked, enrolled, was accepted and attended nearly every game this last year, and I have made it a goal of mine to rebuild a solid foundation for the O-Zone to prosper for many years. I hope this next year will be amazing for OU hoops and a starting point for a prosperous decade.

Way to go Cellis!!!

I live 90 mins southeast of Indy and it hurt not being to see the Bobcats play a tourney game in person. But i had tons of fun at home ... is that not the winning team chant might have confused my wife.

Snoop and Jamerson were both before my time, but I did get to see Marin Bota play while I was an undergrad, who of course had NBA skills, so there's that.
