Carter Whitt was the 9th highest ranked recruit in Wake Forest history. As previously stated, he didn't get off to a great start but he's only a sophomore in terms of elgibility.
We've had other highly ranked transfers in the past including Armon Bassett, Walter Offutt and Kenny Kaminski. They rarely turn into superstars in the MAC but there's normally a high chance of them being successful players at our level.
Whitt was the top ranked point guard in the state of North Carolina in 2020. He has decent size, vision and would be an upgrade at the PG position based on his potential alone.
Is it a guarantee that it'll work out if he signs with Ohio? No, but it's worth taking a shot. We'd have three top 200 high school recruits on the team simultaneously with multiple years of eligibility remaining. OU would have a clear talent advantage on the rest of the conference from a "ranking/potential" perspective.
I mentioned in a thread earlier this season that I don't believe Jeff Boals has any inclination of 2022/23 being a rebuilding season. I think he looks at it as a reloading year.
Of course, this is all speculation and we don't even know if Whitt will even sign with Ohio.
