I’m not a get off my lawn type of a guy, but when did #RollBobbies attempt to become a thing for branding Ohio athletic programs?? Roll Bobbies is awful.

Thankfully, Boals ended last night presser by saying Go Bobcats and not Roll Bobbies.

It’s a very common statement I’ve heard screamed / stated by classmates. Think it’s a Gen Z thing. Personally I have no problem with it but can see why it can bother some

I agree with Fear, "Roll Bobbies" is kind of like a ripoff of "Roll Tide," just like the PAW is a rip-off of Clemson and every other high school in the country.

OT: I looked at his tweet and noticed #RollBobbies. Clicked on it and was disturbed to see its widespread use. I thought the "Bobbies" thing had died. It certainly needs to. And you kids get off my lawn.
QFT.

What are we the cuddly Bobkitties? Those are "Bobbies". It's like a bad dig from a mid-major student section that we imposed on ourselves.

Now go walk up hill, both ways, in 2 feet of snow!

It's more of a cheeky, rallying cry. Obviously a play on Roll Tide, but more self-aware that we're not exactly Alabama.

Like when people hold up signs that say WE WANT BAMA, because they're 10-0 in the Sun Belt.

Like Harvard on the Hocking.

Clearly, we're not Harvard. I still think it's a funny shirt.

I have no problem with it, then again I dont let silly things upset me.

I will not be able to get this out of my head now when I hear it.

Sometimes old folks get upset with young folks for not getting traditions correct without even realizing that some of the traditions that they have been upholding were invented when they were young and old folks were upset with them at that time.

Roll Tide sounds manly, the other does not. Bobcats are wild animals. Bobbies domesticates the critter.

I'd wager some young coeds came up with the name. Kinda like Barbara Streisand calling Robert Redford "Preppy" in "The Way We Were" When she was quite the opposite.

Speaking of the way we were, we didn't try to change OUr image, but rather attacked opponents with my era's use of Muck Fiami and BGSUcks.

#RollBobbies
+1

I'd also add that this is a trend that has been popular for the last 5-10 years across all sports/leagues. It was used a lot online back when Cleveland was still the Indians, #RollTribe.

It is 100% copying Bama's #RollTide, gotta give Bama credit for being the first there.

I enjoy it and would rather have a catchy hashtag/rally cry than not have one.

Early 2000's grad, here, and I don't like it. It took me a while to warm up to OU-Oh Yeah, though.

I guess that if you don't like it but selected it as your handle that you don't plan on posting a lot.

I meant I'm not a fan of this thread, I love #rollbobbies. You boomers need to embrace change. (all sarcasm)

I have no idea if I'll post a lot, been reading here for basketball news and such for awhile but just decided to sign up during the game last night.

Harmless but I thought it was strange when I first heard it in 2016 or so.

If it inspires Miami to adopt #RollTweetyBirds I might learn to accept it.

Except it would be more like the equivalent of #RollFuzzyChickens

Like I said, lame mid major student section stuff that we inexplicably choose to impose on ourselves.

It’s kinda weird. We’re not Bobs. But, whatever. It’ll probably die out before long. And if it helps maintain some Ohio enthusiasm, I can live with it.

The spirit of this thread reminds me of the whole Ohio U/Ohio deal. To me…it’s all good. As long as they are wearing green and cheering for Ohio University, I’m good.
