Now that we have added Devon Baker, We essentially have 10 guards on the roster, if you include the preferred walk-ons as well as Roderick and Olumide, who both played some two this past season. How will the rotation play out? Can we get six or seven in the fold consistently? Could we play with a whole lot more pace and pressure.
Tell you what, the mid majors that make noise in March always have excellent guard play.
Starting lineup of small ball
PG: Hunter
SG: Baker
C: Wilson
SF: Roderick
PF: Clayton
Next 5
PG: E. James
SG: M. Brown
C: Witznitzer
SF: AJ Brown
PF: Ezuma
Develop: Sheldon, Hadaway, Adelodun
LOVE THIS TEAM!
Not sure about Brown going from starter to reserve but Baker has started 71 games of D-1 hoops, so this get has to be viewed as a positive. Any boo-hoo'ing over the Towns transfer can pretty much end now, but best of luck to him moving forward.
Is it too soon to get my Bobcats at Belmont tickets?
Brown started out of necessity last season in place of McDay and wasn’t overly impactful. Maybe he takes a step forward this season, but I think his value is 6th man.
Miles certainly was more impactful than B-Rod, but I agree he's probably coming off the bench - but NOT for Baker.
AJ Brown didn't turn down ACC, SEC, and Big 10 offers to come ride the bench for Ohio University. Not in this era.
This would be the ideal line-up imo.
Hunter - 6'
AJ Brown - 6'4"
B-Rod (probably) - 6'5 or Hadaway 6'7''
Dwight Wilson - 6'8
Wiznitzer - 6'11
Clayton / Ezuma - 6'8
Brown - 6'1 / Baker - 6'2
I think it's gonna be really tough to keep Wiznitzer's size off the floor. Not only is he nearly 7' tall, but he's a thick, strong 7'. Him and Wilson might get every single rebound and out muscle everyone who comes to town. That's something that hasn't been said in Athens in years. And for once... we have depth? I'm knocking on every piece of wood I can find, but that's a 10 man rotation, and we're leaving out some pieces.
Keep your small ball. Let's bully some guys and let the guards run around the trees.
