Bruce Pearl is getting rapped on the knuckles for calling recruits like a 16-year-old groupie.

I think the punishment should also be the forfeiture of this year's second round NCAA game.

In which case, I want my Sweet 16 matchup.

I'll be in St. Louis waiting. K-Thx-Bye.

Unlikely any of the current players were affected by the throw away phones.

And if rapped on the knuckles equals a year year ban on off campus recruiting for his whole staff and a 25% percent pay cut, I'd like to know what you recommend for calling recruits a few too many times.

Not like he was sending bags of money to players like Kentucky. Not to mention the NCAA can still hand down more punishments, these were self-imposed.

That said, I'm disappointed to be a Vol basketball fan today.

Should this surprise anyone? Bruce Pearl, regardless of his conviction rate, has a credibility issue with doing things "the right way" all the time.

And he lied to the NCAA. I doubt if they appreciate that.

I said this on the football board, no surprise here the SEC is the most penalized conference in the nation when it comes to NCAA violations.  One could make an argument it is a cultural thing.

It might have been a real rap on the knuckles except for 1) the lying, and 2) it's Bruce Pearl.  Been there, done that.

But once again, these are self imposed punishments. The NCAA has yet to announce theirs, and it's looking like stripping of schollys and maybe a post season ban. And there is lots of talk of Pearl being gone before the month ends.

Please, cheating happens at 90% of schools. Ignoring the fact the cheating occurs all over the college landscape is ignorance. But that's still no ecus to do it, even with the NCAA's nazi like rules.

Can you read?  I didn't say no one else cheats, I simply stated a "Cold Hard Fact" The SEC is the most penalized conference in NCAA athletics.  Would you like to dispute this fact?

They are the most penalized because their alums and presidents care too much about winning. They will gladly look the other way as long as they win. That is what is expected.
