I have yet to read what others are replying of your question about "legality" of playing overseas. but . .i think that is one of the reasons why a team can get that extra time away"leagally"... dont get me wrong . Things have really changed over the last several years... I would also like to here if anyone knows anything ... I remember when Ohio football played Ball St. in football ...In Tokyo and think it was around 1992 ish with Lichtenburgh .. I was still in middle school.. but I played watched little Tommy at Athens and he was recruited to play at Notre Dame . no bulll crap. I graduated with Ben Grobe in 1997. Anyway I think the "newbies" are elligble to play as long as the boys are registered for classes.
The Ball State game never materialized, the game was to be played in Killiney, Ireland and was billed as the Shamrock Bowl. Materials were printed, some (stress the word some) vacation packages were sold, and the promoter backed out in October, and the game was played in Muncie, In. Several lawsuits were filed over this fiasco. The game was 1990, and Bubba was not on the team at that time.
