2009-2010:  National runner-up in NAIA Div. II last season, losing title game by 1 point.  Overall record 32-3 last year.  Won America Mideast Conference title.

This year, Walsh is playing exhib games vs. Ohio, Ohio State, and WVU.  Pretty ambitious.  And I don't think OSU and WVU would invite them in unless they would be somewhat competitive.

Walsh is picked #2 in the nation in the preseason NAIA Div. II poll.

Walsh is in the process of transitioning to NCAA DIv. II and will be members of the GLIAC, one of the toughest Div. II conferences.  Findlay is in that league.

Walsh usually picks up one or two NCAA Div. I transfers per year, and they are immediately eligible.  This year, they add to their roster 6-9 center Terrance Saintil, a transfer from Virginia Commonwealth.

Their top returning player is 6-0 guard Jeremy Shardo, an NAIA All American.  Their biggest loss is Ricky Jackson, a 6-7 forward who averaged 23 ppg as a senior.

The Cavaliers are coached by Jeff Young.

We'll see if Walsh can give us a better game than Wooster.

I'm glad to see Walsh is also playing some other quality programs.  While comparative scores is a crude measure of a team's quality, this will at least give us some rough sense of how far along we are.

I don't believe that Scott Tedder is playing for Walsh

I had the pleasure last year of watching walsh play twice, true against another naia school(mvnu) but walsh did look pretty darn good. If I remember right I believe as well as the exibition game ohio state and walsh scrimmaged before the tournament as a way to get both schools ready for postseason play.

43-30. Ohio on top at the half. Team looks a little sloppy, Coop is a man amongst men.

Well McKinney, your boys didn't completely embarass you this time...But you've reached 0-19.  Looking forward to 20 in a row when we meet Norfolk State or some other completely non-intimidating school.

Bring that level of play against a D-I school and it's a loss.

theoretically you're correct, that level of play wouldn't beat a lot of D1 schools, but realistically we weren't trying to play to our top level, so it doesn't matter.

If we were just trying to put our best 5 on the floor wouldn't have started Tunji and Sayles. No offense to them, but they are primarily bench players. Also, once we had the lead in the 1st half and again for even longer stretches in the 2nd half we went to an all frosh/soph line up, with various combinations of those 7 players. That was some of our sloppiest play, but given the cicrumstances (exibition game with a comfortable lead) it was also our most important. It was good for Ivo and Reggie to work on taking more of a leadership role on the floor and it was good for the frosh so they could continue to work out the jitters without the pressure Coop had last year of trying to pull out a win every time.

Although Groce has had some recruiting misses (Horne, A Kellogg) overall he's done a great job of bringing in guys that all have the potential to be more than just contributors, but can be break-out stars. Coop is on another level, Keely and Baltic are progressing nicely, and all 4 four freshmen show glimpses of big upside. We got the W, and good playing time- mission accomplished.

Well, Ohio State handled Walsh a little better than us, beating them 102 - 56 today...

Clearly, they were just worn down from playing the Bobcats.

I seriously doubt that Groce brings that rotation against a serious D-1 school.  I agree that the effort was a little disjointed but I doubt we see the same minutes and rotation next week.
