OOPS. Look for new post :)

OK here is the post I meant to send which is apparently lsot in the WWW somewhere.

1.  Arrived at first local establishment to have a pregame icy cold beverage.  The nice waitress in her tOSU jersey was somewhat puzzled and stated that there were a lot of people in OU shirts today.  She wondered if there was a ball game or something.

2. Jackie O's doesn't open until 6:00 pm

3. In the second place we went into my friend and I were the only two customers.  The bartender asked the same question as in the first place: "Is there something going on today in the convo?"  I told him about the game and suggested that he could hook his computer to the tv and watch the game.  He said he did not know that was possible (meaning, he did not know the game was avaible from OhioBocats.com )   I am not suggesting that we would rather have students stay away from the convo but I am suggesting that the Bobcats are exciting enough to watch that someone who is a casual basketball fan would want to go see them live if they had the opportunity to seem them on the tv.

4.  Got to the convo and someone was in my reserved seats.  I happen to have seats on the student section right above one of the entrances.  It was not a big deal that someone was there today since I had some friends just down the way above another entrance.  I would have booted the visitors out if the game had stayed close because I am a little superstitios and consider those my lucky seats.  THE REAL observation here is that where I usually sit and where I sat today there is NOT ONE scoreboard that can be seen in its entirety.  Two are blocked by the baskets on each end.  On is blocked by the people sitting in "press row" and the other one is at such an angle that you can only see one score.  To get the total picture I had to look at 3 different scoreboards.

What my observations mean to me is this 1 and 3 would indicate that there still needs to be some marketing/outreach to  the places where students might hang out.  Observation 4 indicates that some attention to customer service needs to be done at the convo.  There is a great "product" at the convo.  It would be great to see more people there.  (I know I know..win important games more)

Observation 2 was just a personal disappointment.

what kind of alternate universe have I fallen into where bar staff in Athens wear A&M gear?? my generation (gen X) was indifferent to OU athletics because we were indifferent to everything, not because we were sellouts. I feel ill and like I need to bathe to wash off the funk.  gross.

Not to take this thread off track, but Mrs. LOVE and I ate at the new Pigskin for the 1st time yesterday. Both got burgers. An honest review...there were approx 20 people in the place, and our burgers took almost 30 minutes to arrive. However, the food was really really GOOD and the orders (slightly customized) were taken perfectly. I would definitely go back, b/c the food was awesome...but they gotta work on those wait times. We got there at 12.30 and left at 1.30, and it took us about 10 mins to eat. A little too close for comfort on getting me to the Convo with plenty of time to spare. Just FYI.

If I walked into that place I would let them know about the seriOUsly inappropriate behavior--just before I walked OUt.  I hope that everyone will.

I posted about a year ago that my nephew (now a soph) is a lucky lad, beginning attendance at The Ohio University when, for the first time since his father's era, football and basketball are seriOUs together.  Very seriOUs.  Not a thing has happened to make me think that opinion is anything but right on.
