Under John Groce, there's been an incredible disparity in the Cats' record if they score 70 points compared to if they don't.  In the first two+ years, they are 29-3 if they score at least 70 points; 9-30 if they score less than 70.  In year one, they were 10-0 with 70+ points, 5-17 with less than 70; last year, it was 18-3 vs. 4-12; this year, 1-0 vs. 0-1.  Let's see them do lots of 70+ on offense this year.

That trend also existed under O'Shea, if I'm not mistaken.  We're just really committed to being anti-Charlieball.

it's always been the first team to 65 that wins

We just seem to be a much better transition team than half court team. Getting up and down the court is usually a good indication of a Bobcat win.

definitely a trend under O'Shea and now Groce.  I am too lazy too look up past season records but I remember telling my wife many-a-time...we are pretty safe now that we have scored 70 points.

The "first to 65" was also nearly a certainty for a long time.

How true is this for other schools at these same numbers?

Pretty similiar.  I think this fun fact can indeed point to us being better off in high scoring games with a lot more run and gun...But I also think it's kinda dumb.  When you have an above average score you usually win and when you have a below average score you usually lose.
