They all need to make better choices.

About the time the Cats were making their final run, DJ tried to go against a bigger defender on a 3 on 1 break, and got stuffed.  A pass would've been great there.

TAMCC may be a sneaker.  They lost by only 10 at OK St last night.

Yeah...that move was really bad judgment.  Should have been a pass.

Hopefully, everyone will be more focused on the game plan vs. Corpus Christi.  My guess is we will be.

Notes on the Corpus Christi Islanders:
  • In 2009-2010, they finished 17-15, and second in the West Division of the Southland Conference.  They have had some success in recent years in making runs in the conference tournament.  They were in the NCAA tournament in 2006-2007.
  • Last season, Corpus Christi played at Kent State in December and lost, 85-76.
  • Last season, the Islanders defeated recent Ohio opponent Lamar twice in Southland Conference play.
  • Last season, the Islanders struggled on the road vs. non-conference opponents, going 1-7.
  • They are picked to finish in the upper division of the West Division again this season.
  • They are coached by former Tulane and Miami (FL) coach Perry Clark.
  • So far this season, Corpus Christi is 1-2, with its most impressive performance being losing by only 10 on the road at Oklahoma State.
  • In its three games so far, the Islanders have gone 11 deep, so they have some depth.
  • The team has pretty good heighth for a Div. I program.
  • Their most impressive player to date is Demond Watt, a 6-7 senior from Chicago who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding.  Also putting up numbers is Terrence Jones, a 6-2 guard out of Baltimore.
  • Statistically, the Islanders in the early season so far have struggled defensively and also with turnovers.

This game is scaring me a little. We Should win this game, but we need to play way better than Oakland. This is a very good team. Also i hope we have new refs for this game. I can't watch another game like that again.

On the plus side, free throws are excellent today.

it seems like everytime johnson drives to the basket he gets stuffed. He needs to kick it back out or something. The same thing happened against oakland.

Early indications are Rico puts it up too much...needs to look to distribute more and improve shot selection.  But it's a small sample size and it's early.

Needs to learn how to hit a pull up jumper.

Yes.  He had a heck of a day today.  His Achilles heel was at the line, but he was impressive, I thought.

Another interesting note: their 6-9, 260 player is now a perfect 4-4 this season from beyond the arc.

I didnt get a chance to watch the game, but I do like one thing in particular from the box score:

Our 3 bigs combined for 40 points, 21 rebounds, only 8 fouls, and 8-10 from the free throw line.  Keep it up boys!

Agreed.  Based on the first few games, it appears that this team is going to live or die based upon its front court production.

Dont get too excited about the frontcourt production just yet. Keely's box score looked alot better than he did on the floor tonight. His touch around the basket really needs to improve. I would much rather see D and Ivo in the starting lineup than Keely.

Also, Ric only shot the ball 4 times. He's a freshman. Very talented, and he made one of the best passes of the night. Played solid defense and had a few deflections. I think it was a quality night for the kid.
