Like all your mom's from the country said - if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all...so here is your "nothing but positives" edition of the LOVE's game recap from yesterday:

1. Dustin Ford - Next to DJ Cooper, he may be the MVP of the team for me. My disdain for his brother is widely known, but many of you don't know the respect I have for Dustin's coaching acumen. He saw Kane carrying the ball on multiple occasions and got the ref to call it. He's coaching hard in-game. He demanded Devaughn dunk one of the bunnies that he missed (only to be rewarded with a "f*ck you" from Devaughn - stay classy). He's seeing all the angles in-game and trying to help get the adjustments made. I can just tell he's working hard. Question will be whether he's polished enough to put himself in position for a HC job down the road. I hope so, as I think he can flat-out Coach given the chance.

2. The Temperature in the Convo - Sensational. Really good job by the HVAC team yesterday. They don't get enough credit, so in this age of only discussing the positives - my hats off to the HVAC team. With snow falling outside and a temperature vascillating from 37 to 29 degrees, the 70ish degrees in the convo was perfectly inviting. Did I mention the air quality? Not a hint of asbestos in the air and probably limited radon as well. Things are superb in that department.

3. My seat - the effort needed to lower the bottom half from the top half was perfectly optimal. The screws had been put in just right and it required just the perfect amount of force to get it into the 90 degree angle I required for seating. The seat was clean, smooth, and an amicable fit for my frame. Good old 105 E3 and E4..workhorses that come to the job every day without complaint without credit. Well good friends - here is your credit.

4. My friend Tunji's dance during introductions - You can have the Dougie, I'll take the Tunji. Lots of verbal interaction. Good eye contact. Well choreographed. Even Cheryl Burke and Max Chemermemerosky sent me DM's on twitter saying that they were impressed. No better way to kick off the game in my opinion.

5. We didn't lose by 57 - While many of you are in your negative state of mind after yesterday's game, I'm feeding off the positives. Not losing by 57 is exhilerating....but when it's only 8? Heavenly.

6. Walt Offutt or Jon Smith's discussion with the officials - In fairness, I couldn't see who it was that said something to the nice referee to get his attention, but one of them was reprimanded for their conduct outside the watchful eye of Mr. Groce. Some of you might say they need to hold their tongue and let Mr. Groce work the referees. I say they were being team players, even in street clothes. If 100% of our fans, coaches, and players are working the refs on EVERY...SINGLE...PLAY - why shouldn't the kids in street clothes get their crack? 80% of the calls yesterday were excellent. 20% not so much, so why shouldn't our transfers get to participate?

7. Give it up for the Fairfield Union HS Band. As Mrs. LOVE said, "if I close my eyes, it sounds just like the 110" - Well said Mrs. LOVE. Well said.

8. Popcorn in the Rohr Room - As I type this, AMC theatres is looking into a patent infringement suit. There's some serious dollars to be lost in the cinematic industry if this keeps up. Very few blank kernels. Warm. Seasoned to perfection. Not to greasy.  It may just be a simple, run of the mill funtime machine, but dammit when you execute the pop like these people are doing in the Rohr Room...you deserve some kind of popcorn Heisman trophy.

9. The Huntington population's weight loss - Here's to you Mr. Jamie Oliver, you Naked Chef of a bastard. You got those Huntington people in tip top shape. Sure they like their pizza and chocolate milk a little more than the next guy, but your ability to whip their local politicians and DJ's into shape for your weight loss initiative was terrific. Never was it more on display yesterday in the Convo where only 3 out of 4 men had plumbers crack showing and guts hanging out of control. Five years ago, that was 4 out of 4 men. Plus, I'm guessing Taco Johns, McDonalds, and Wendy's had banner days yesterday....all positives.

Lots of positives to build off yesterday. Lots of positives. I'm personally optimistic and please don't bother me with your negative feedback. I'm on a cloud that you don't have access to right now, Mr. Debbie Downer.

Post of the year by far. A giant but also subtle middle finger to a lot of the detractors out there. I for one absolutely LOVE it. Phenomenal and well done.

Got a hearty laugh out loud on a few of these.  May have just made my day.

The HVAC team really doesn't get enough credit!

Hey love, can you get the seat guy over to my seat, sec 3, row F, seat 11?  The left side arm rest has the screws missing and my granddaughter just loves to raise and lower it during critical times in the game.

I really like having the FUHS band there as well.  They do a really nice job filling in for the 110 during the long break.  Thanks to their band director for organizing their appearance.

Rohr Room popcorn has really improved this year.  In years past, there was a supply chain problem.  They really stay up on it during peak popcorn consumption times.  I did not have any at half time, but enjoyed a freshly popped bag on the drive home.  McBin and I discussed donating a 2nd machine to keep up with demand, but they have clearly figured out the problem so I think that extra machine is not needed.

I am also surprised nobody has mentioned the Star Spangled Banner performance.  Awesome!  That was as good as I have ever witnessed in my 20 years of watching games in the Convo.  I would put her on an every other game rotation.

Damn funny for sure. Not sure why but one of these days I need to meet Love and Wannamaker. They really do know everything or are damn good making s--t up.

Now - you really saw DW say "FU" to a coach (doesn't matter if it was Dustin or a grad asst)??

100%. Mrs. LOVE caught it too. In fairness, it was some combination of "f that", "what the f", or "f you" - but it most definitely happened.

I was serious on the Dustin positives by the way. He's doing a great job as far as I can see it.

The team may still be in early-season form, but not Love. Saw him mid-first half standing, shouting and pointing during a dead ball. Not sure if his irate verbal attack was directed at a Marshall player, coach, or ref, but he was definitely in post-season form.

Well I can only hold my head down then. If any player can get away with that behavior, then we are screwed.

At no time in my career (little league to OHIO) would a player get away with that insubordination! Disgusting and disgraceful.

I am glad football has occupied my time to this point.

Truly got a good chuckle out of this post.  I too was pleased with the HVAC yesterday!

I'm not sure what is amiss, but boy is it ever.   Hopefully this week gets things back into a better groove for the guys.

I was trying to spark something...anything yesterday. I tried to put the building on my back and will us to a win. Epic failure.

It was after the atrocious blocking foul on Tommy in the 2nd half that set me off.

Herrian was my target and I got his attention (several winks in my direction told me I was in his head).

He's got his hands full with that Marshall team. They are completely un-disciplined and I'm not sure there's a coach in the country that can get that team under control. Best was in the first half when he physically threw one of his bench players back into his seat to stop him from arguing a call. That crew is much more worried about looking good than playing good. See - the horrendous behind the back pass from Kane that could have cost them the ballgame. Nice work, Pistol.

Look on the bright side Marshall isn't in the MAC so this loss didn't hurt us in the MAC standings.  We are in mid season form winning 60% of our home games.   Atleast we saved the NCAA selection commitee  some time this season in not having to take a longer look at our at-large resume.  Atleast the 1994 team can be relieved that their school record 25 wins is safe for another season. We lost to Marshall only 4 times 12 months in football and basketball.  Atleast the basketball team had a 7 points lead on Marshall.

I too saw the Dustin/Devaughn thing.  I'm chalking it up to the heat of the moment and hoping that's all it was.

Herrion looks like Tim Conway and hams it up even more than Tim did back in his day.

Our fans did not answer the challenge Marshall's fans threw down.  Disappointing to say the least.

I'm wondering how long it will take until they're ready to start earning wins.
