FIRST - I speak to all the comments made PERSONALLY against EACH NAME MENTIONED.  Not just one, BUT ALL!

SECOND - As it has been mentioned by many before about personal attacks, I chose to bold HOPING a few of you would get a CLUE.  Some of you couldn't get a clue if it was given to you buy Jesus himself.

LAST - I'm not saying to refrain from criticism, I'm just saying stuff like...."Keely should be ...blah blah blah is unecessary!

PUT YOURSELF IN THEIR SHOES.  Whether they read it personally, or a family member or classmate reads it and relays this to them...not a good feeling.

D-I-S-C-R-E-T-I-O-N

The mere fact that some of you feel entitled to say or do as you please, speaks volumes.

And for the record, you don't have to agree with me...but it needed to be said.

I don't think anyone has to back off when our best players are consistently missing 2 foot layups and easy tip-ins.  They go to OHIO for free to make those shots, and I don't think it is out of line to expect a little more out of my school's basketball program, especially when I know that we are capable of beating much better teams than we LOST to today... Not much passion out there from anyone today, IMO.

These players are not here for you.  They are here for an education FIRST and basketball SECOND.  sorry to burst your bubble.  Just because they have scholarships thereby a "free"education, doesn't mean obligation to not be tired, disheartend, have a bad day, week or month.

The sacrafice these young men are making for this free education is tremendous.  You would understand if you've ever been a student athelete....

I don't see any of them gettting residuals from beating the crap out of Georgetown...but thats another conversation...

I'm trying to help you but you're not making it easy. If your stance is that we should never say anything critical about a player and mention him by name then you are not being realistic. Do you refer to your favorite team as "I can't believe that so and so didn't play good..."? Don't be unreasonable.

Secondly, you want us to be discreet? We're on an OHIO University athletics message board, where else should we go? This board is about opinions, good and bad. And we do feel entitled to say as we please, most of us paid tens of thousands of dollars to get a degree from Ohio University and since graduation have spent thousands more on supporting the athletics department.

So yeah, that gives us the right to complain about a loss on a message board. Again, point to specifics comments and I'll have your back. But your comments are starting to make you sound like a soccer mom that wants everyone to get a participation trophy. This is D1 athletics, be reasonable. For the most part, we are.

All:

I personally look at this Board sorta like Television.  I don't like a lot of the stuff that goes on and I don't believe in attacking players or coaches personally.

I also agree that, like TV, if you don't like what you read, don't come looking.  And, I would recommend, as a former (long ago) athlete that NO Athlete or Parent ever read a blog unless they are thick skinned.  There are always people that go over board.

I'd also say that some censorship MAY be in order here from our sponsors.  Same aatitude goes to posters, if you don't like that your post is censored go somewhere else.

Let's all try being adults.  After all, these are just opinions and like A@@#$% everyone has one!

People should be suspended for prolonged periods.

Long time posters will get the humor/irony of that.

Honestly to the parents, there are high expectations for this team. This is big-time basketball and your children are big-time players and are not playing to their potential. There will be criticism, there always is, just try to ignore it. If they are going toplay pro ball they will have to endure this 1000 fold.

As a fifth-grade teacher who stresses the importance of mental math skills, I was fantasizing Ohio scoring 300 points today when Marshall called a time out 40 seconds into the game and Ohio up 5-0. (5 points in 40 seconds = 300 points in 40 minutes). Unfortunately, it took 8 minutes for Ohio to score its next 5 points.

One question for Groce: late in the game, when substituting offense for defense each possession, why was Kellogg part of the defensive unit considering he hit two 3 pointers in the second half?

I have a question.  Why are we not rebounding or following our shots, or any shot for that matter?  When I played in junior high it was drilled into our heads to rebound, box out and follow the shots as in when the ball goes to the basket you collapse to the basket as in everyone and then box out.  I've seen very little of this.  Why?  It's not a skill you just do it.  At the college level they should know this.  Other than that they're not bad but half of these losses could be wins if those things were done.

That a good point about Kellogg. He had played well as a freshmen so far.  Of the four freshmen he is the farthest along.  He is consistent game to game which is a positive sign.  I think if Kellogg can become a primary scorer that will be a turning point in our season.  Right now teams are so focused on Cooper.   Having a second guard like we had in Bassett score off the dribble and get to the line would help. Johnson has shown flashes of that but he need to be more consistent and develop other areas of his game. This is the area where we are missing Coleman a lot. Coleman and Bassett both attacked the rim and got to the line.  Cooper does that but he is the focus of the defense. Having Kellogg or Johnson drive to the basket and attack the rim would help. Both are athletic enough to do that.  The guys coming in next year might help more, but

Definitely an extremely disappointing game today adding to an extremely disappointing season.  Its early, but we certainly arent looking like the conference favorites.

Someone who is me posted that how would we replace KVK?  Bassett's loss was not the thing.

Basic, solid big man play in a team way which KVK provided.
