Is it true that tickets are only 5 bucks a piece for this game. I thought that is what they said at the IUPUI game but i cant find it on the website.

I believe tickets are indeed $5.

I predict an actual attendance of 800.

800? are you serious? I was thinking like 7000 or so with the 5 dollar tickets and the big name opponent.

7,000 in Athens three days before Christmas and very few students in town??

I'll predict 4,000 tickets sold.

Well, I guess Temple IS a bigger name than most of our nonconference opponents, but let's not confuse them with true "big name" teams like UCLA, Purdue, Pitt, Kansas, etc.  I don't know anyone who could pick Fran Dunphy out of a crowd.

Unless there is some special promotion, my guess is attendance will be about 2,000...2,001 if the weather holds and I can make the 80 mile trip.

I wish there was a way we could get schools like Dayton or Xavier to play us in Athens...just once...

Not only play in Athens, but play in Athens when the quarter IS IN session, not out.  Unfortunately I will not be present in my war paint  at this one as it is 2 days before Christmas, I'm two and a half hours away, and I'm taking an online class over break that the trip to NOLA has already put me behind in.  I will watch on my computer though so the Cats better give them hell.

Count me in as EXTREMELY EXCITED for this game.

We don't get anyone worthwhile to come to Athens on the football side, so I'm going to suck the marrow out of having a solid basketball power at the Convo tomorrow night.

Should be awesome!

I will be stopping to take in the game to break up my trip to my parent's house for Christmas. Super excited to get back to Athens and super excited to see the Bobcats play some basketball! And against temples no less!

I've had this one circled on the calendar. Worth the drive. Going to try to hit town before the bookstore closes, anyone up for a pre-game meal?

Temple is only an 8.5 point favorite.  Lets take these guys out and use it to fuel a turnaround and get some momentum.  Very pissed I am missing this game (in Wisconsin for family holiday activities).

The Pub is open, yes? No?

If not, where is Broney's?

Broney's is the very far end of Court from the Convo, on the left.

Interesting match-up for Cats.  Like everyone else....I sure wish the students were in town.  The Cat's could be in for a long night if we don't all of sudden come up with a dominant rebounder or two!   We will have a difficult time trying to beat this team from the perimeter with little inside attack.  hope I am wrong......

Discussion points for tonight's game vs. Temple:
  • Temple continues to excel on defense.  This season, their opponents' FG% is 37.3%.
  • Temple is tall, long and athletic.  They are excellent at team rebounding, and Levoy Allen is their toughest inside player.  Allen is not putting up huge numbers, but some consider him to be an All American candidate.
  • Temple has a good assist to turnover ratio.  On the other hand, they force their opponents into a lot of turnovers.
  • Temple is only shooting 25% from 3.
  • Temple so far has been below average in shooting FTs.
  • Temple does not have as much depth as most of our opponents so far.  However, it hasn't made much difference so far because their top seven players are so good.
  • How should Ohio approach Temple?  For one thing, we may see the Bobcats collapsing inside, using various types of defenses.  If so, we have to really hope Temple continues to be below average on 3 pt. FG%.  Temple is so much bigger inside that we have to double down on them, and that will doubtless open the perimeter at times for them.
  • Due to Temple's depth issues, and Ohio's quickness and speed, we will be trying to get some rebounds and get out in transition.  We also have to take advantage of any steals we get re:  transition.  Temple would be happy to keep this game in the 60s.  Ohio would like it to be in the mid 70s.
  • Will be interesting to see how the game is officiated.  Will we be allowed to be physical inside on defense against Temple's bigs?  Will Temple be allowed to mug us?
  • The temptation for the Bobcats in the half court offense will be to "settle" for a high proportion of 3 pt. attempts as compared to 2 pt. attempts.  IMO, we have to find a way to make a good faith effort get some offense in the paint.  C'mon refs, help us out here.
  • Temple an 8 pt. favorite in the Columbus Dispatch today.

Tough opponent. Will be interesting to see how we respond to playing what amounted to an extra half of basketball Saturday.
