These are the by far the worst refs I have ever seen.....I'm writing the A10 a letter.

They just stole this game from us.

Coaches have to be careful what they say about refs, but I'd be willing to help Groce pay any fine for speaking his mind about the refs in this game.

4 OT's and we're not in the double bonus....sure.

I'm sending a letter to the A10 office immediately. If I were Groce, I would tear these guys a new ass.

I can't believe he hasn't taken the  technical and let Dustin take over.

This made Vince McMahon look like Jimmy Carter during the Bret Hart / Sean Michaels screwjob.

I never bitch about the refs, but this is just un-godly.

Groce went on a tear at the final ticks. Liked it. Really bad officiating. This was a screwjob of epic proportions.

These players did not deserve this screw job. Looking forward to hearing what those at the game have to say. Great job of calling the game by Tony C.

You could hear him plain as day on the radio going off during the Bonnies'  last set of foul shots.  Anyone listening on the radio or online knows he felt the refs were bull****, that one came through quite well!

I was glad he gave the refs an earful, but I was half expecting them to throw him out.

The foul calls were really bad. However, I could not believe they missed Ricardo's baseline SLAM! It was clearly through the hoop and then bounced back up.  That would have made it a 3 point game with close to two minutes left and completely changed things.  Instead, Bonaventure went up 7.  IT WAS SO OBVIOUS...TERRIBLE!

Officiating aside(Terrible!), Nicholson is a hell of a player and DJ Cooper will be the GREATEST PLAYER IN OHIO BASKETBALL HISTORY possibly by the end of his junior season!  I watched their PG talking trash to him with 3 minutes left.  DJ had 24 at the time...he took over from there and stared the kid down after every bucket and every steal. He is a STUD!

This team is struggling right now, BUT just needs one more payer to develop by year end to be a REALLY good team.

Cooper loves to draw contact near the rim. Being left-handed, I believe, helps to allow him to show the ball, draw contact, pull the ball back before getting the shot off. Normally, he gets the call from the refs for an and-1 or at the least 2 foul shots. Not sure if he got one of those calls today despite plenty of opportunities.

DJ looked very frustrated this afternoon with the refs, deservedly so.

They took 24! more free throws than we did.

When it's 8 against 5, it's a  bit unfair.

Great effort OHIO!  Hopefully this experience will make you a tougher team.

I went to the game. Worst refs i've seen in a long time. Called ticky tack calls against Ohio the entire game but wouldn't call anything when Nicholson elbowed us or did anything wrong.

It was pretty hard to watch.

That Rico missed dunk play really confused me. From the feed that I was watching, it definitely looked like the ball went in and hit one of the players and popped back out. At first I thought he made it, but then thought it would have been counted since it was knocked back out.

A 24 free-throw difference is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! I literally could not believe my eyes when refs called hand check after hand check on us ESPECIALLY in the final minutes of regulation and the overtimes! From what I can see, we had 4 players foul out while they only had 1...WOW!!

just saw on the crawl on ESPN that DJ's 41 fg attempts were the most by any NCAA player in 15 years.

i'll leave the arguements about whether he's the greatest of all time or not to the rest of you but I will say he's without a doubt my favorite to watch.  The kid has moves.

We definitely got hurt by the refs...But I have a hard time just throwing my hands up and saying we got jobbed.  The shot selection was terrible.  40 three point attempts is an embarassment.  DJ was great but he fired up way too many rushed 3s.  Sorry but 41 shots by one individual is too many.

The mishandling by Reggie in the 2nd OT, and the odd alleged missed dunk by Rico.  And how many times did they let us back in with terrible free throw shooting?

The refs or not...This is another bad loss in a pretty disappointing season to this point.

Less jacking up quick threes and more taking to the hoop would have even out the fouls.

The game reminded me of at akron last year....felt like dj was trying to do too much, even though he put up big numbers on the stat sheet.

The problem was that when we did take it to the hole earlier in the game we didn't get the calls. Then later when every single big man on our roster had 4 fouls we couldn't afford our bigs to be aggressive on offense.

But the fact that we didn't make it to the bonus until the 2nd OT and didn't make it to the double bonus until very late in the 4th OT is cause for some serious concern.  Think about that. I don't like griping about officials but this was beyond ridiculous. Take a look at the events at the end of the 2nd OT (I may have the OTs mixed up).  We got two offensive rebounds and both players were absolutely hammered attempting put backs but no calls.  If we had run our offense better we still could have won but it's absolutely astounding we were in it at all.

It's not that much more than we have been averaging per game. We took 29 against St. Francis.  Keep in mind that we played an extra 20 minutes.

The 2 feed off eachother (the uneven fouls and us not driving to the hoop) for sure.  29 three pointers is also way too much, especially when about half of them are just run down and jack it up there.  I mean at least try SOMETHING.

Didn't get to see or hear this game. Was on the high seas in the middle of the Pacific, but from the descriptions here it certainly sounds like an East Coast homer job. Good Lord willing I'll be home later tonight and ready to root on Ohio for the Temple upset. Where's MH55 now? ;-)

The lack of fouls we draw + the number of 3 pointers we shoot is a direct reflection of our offense.  It didn't take long to figure out that this roster outside of DJ doesn't have a playmaker.  Basically AB last year who could typically (at least at the end of the year) take his opponent off the first step, take it to hole and usually get fouled or get a quality shot from point blank range.  We really don't have a guy who can face the basket, has a quick first step, and either gets an inside shot or gets fouled.

We really have two scoring options outside of DJ:
Freeman/Hall = Spot up 3 pointers
Baltic, DW, Keely = Backing, backing, backing, backing and shot in post as they push their way as close to the basket as possible

Kellog appears to have the skills to take the ball to the hoop some, but most of his damage has been from outside jumpers.  So the only slasher type is DJ, but when there's an enforcer inside/or he can't turn the corner on his defender(s) he often settles for 3 pointers.

We were supposed to have 2 of those type players on the roster this year (AB/Coleman), but they ain't here and we ain't got anymore of them right now.

I'd agree. I wasn't trying to say that 29 is fine. It all depends on how they come. If you work the offense and it results in a wide open shooter in a good spot up position then fine. But a good number of our 3 point shots have been early in the clock on shots the defense will let you have at any time.   The only people that seem to understand the reason for the quick passing right now are D.J., Tommy and Devaughn.  Once everyone gets on the same page I can see us being very hard to stop on offense.

We're 64th nationally in three point attempt percentage (number of possessions in which we take a 3).  But given the complete lack of an inside game, I can't find too much fault with it.
