The refs are jobbing us worse than I've seen in years.

Tunji gets thrown to the floor and refs call him for the foul. We are getting screwed.

38 three point attempts, many quick and bad, only 9 of which went in.

Sure the refs were bad, but not as bad as our run down the court and chuck up a 3 offense.  Drives me insane.  Something else needs to happen with this offense.

It was right in front of me. Looked like the ball came almost all the way through the net. Perhaps the combo of the slam and #44 slapping the backboard caused it to pop back out. Official didn't explain as play continued. The backboard slap is not illegal if making a play on the ball. I tjought it should've been called good. But I'm an Ohio fan.

30-7 on fouls in the 2nd half...Come on.  Id be surprised to pull out this 4th OT with no bigs...
30-7?  Wow, I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was THAT bad.

I went to the game and had a great time. Too bad we lost.

here's my recap: http://buffaloblitz.blogspot.com/2010/12/nicholsons-44-le...

I got to sit next to Tommy Freeman's dad and had a good time talking to him about OU hoops. Enjoyed the game and had a lot of fun. Was great until the end when the aggravation about all the ticky tack fouls kicked in. Really thought we should've won.

and can i say I'm not impressed with the A10. Who the funk is St Bonaroo anyways, they have like 2000 students or something? Makes me even less since why the MAC can't leverage an all sports deal with Temle and UMass. I made the mistake of taking a look at their fan board, same dilusional arrogance as Temple. Must be what the "A" stands for in A10.

Yeah, they have 2700 students.  So what?

All you guys blaming the refs are clueless. We took 100 shots, almost 50% more shots than they put up.   If we couldn't win based on that stat alone then we didn't deserve to win.

Only got to watch the final minutes of regulation and the 4OT.  Great game.  But man oh man do we need to get DJ a Batman or Robbin.  I know we scored a ton of points, but everytime we came down the court I wondered "how are we going to score.?" Other than DJ we have no playmakers.  Someone to create some offense.

*Tommy is a spot up 3 point shooter that needs someone to kick him the ball for an open look.  I thought TJ had the potential to be a playmaker, but he's looking more and more like a spot up outside shooter too.
*Baltic, Keely, and Devo all play the same game.  Post up then back in, back in, back in, back in and try to score from under the hoop.  All three struggle to play with their face to the hoop, though DW is trying to add a mid-range jump shot to his resume.
*Asown, Ricardo---scouting report has to be back off of them and dare them to shoot.

There's just no creativity and few options other than DJ going off.  I know he may not have been an AB fan, but he's got to be rethinking that right about now.

Just not enough scoring options on this team.  I hope the JUCO guy next year or someone is on our board that can create some offense other than DJ.  I see this team scoring in the 50's a lot more times than the 90's.

Overall however, they played their hearts out.  I think they made the most of what they had talent wise.  However talent wise, we're a flawed offensive team right now.

You obviously didn't watch the game. We LOST our top 4 forwards. Ticky tack fouls forced Washington to sit on the bench most of the game. When he was in, we played good. With him and our other top forwards thrown out do to mediocre calls, we had no chance.

Who cares about the fact we took bad shots. Even with those bad shots, we forced 4 OT's. If we had our key forwards in the game, we wouldn't have taken all those stupid shots. Maybe some extra shots go in an we win.

I'm not blaming the refs for the loss but I am contributing them to one of the reasons why we didn't win.

Can't remember how old you are, perimeterpost, but St. Bonaventure has a good basketball tradition.  Until their recent run of bad seasons, they packed their gym for every game.  People honestly used to fear playing at St. Bonaventure.

They play in a better conference than us and they've been to a Final Four, something we can't say.

One of the most enjoyable games I've seen in years. A few observations from my position in the SBU student section:

-Andrew Nicholson was simply unstoppable.  Yes, we got called for some questionable fouls, but we also physically hammered him throughout the game to absolutely no avail.

-SBU has two or three go-to players; we have one (DJ).  I was very unimpressed by our bench play and surprised by the lack of minutes for Kellogg.

-We took 35 more shots than SBU.  That's an incredible statistic.

-We had legitimate chances to win it at the end of the second and third OTs and simply didn't get the job done. I thought Tommy Freeman made a very poor decision at the end of the first(?) OT when he hurried a three-point shot with 20 seconds remaining on the game and shot clock.  Groce was clearly unhappy.

-Keely played with very good energy at both ends of the floor and was given too few opportunities to score.  Baltic's 13 points showed that we should have been more aggressive in the paint.

-Washington looks lost out there; very tentative. He lost his cool at a couple of key points during the game and ended up with dumb fouls.

-I wonder what was in the note an elderly nun passed to the referees between the third and fourth OTs?

-Cooper is an unbelievable competitor. After every score, steal and/or assist, he just glared at SBU's point guard.

-If we play as hard during the MAC season as we did at SBU , we'll be OK.

they were complaining on the Bonnie board about Cooper giving the choke sign to the player that missed the free throws at the end of OT. Did anyone else see that? That's awesome. Go Coop!

Heard and saw none of this (was in the French Quarter), but was getting some txt updates.  Unreal game on a number of levels.

Most of the statistical/box score insanity has already been pointed out, but this is one I haven't noticed anybody point out: despite playing 3 halves of basketball, we turned the ball over just 13 times.  That is better than 7 of the other 10 games we've played.

They took 24 more free throws than we did and had 11 more turnovers.  We had 8 more offensive rebounds.  You don't see teams attempting 48 free throws all that often.  Our total was a little higher than normal but they averaged just over 20 shots per 20 minutes which is stupidly low especially considering we didn't reach the bonus until the second overtime or the double bonus until the 4th OT.
