Anyone catching this game on ESPN+? Eastern up 2 at the half, neutral court in Detroit, EMU fans showing up, atmosphere sounds great, Emoni Bates looking like an early season favorite of MAC POY.

Bates and Farakahn are absolutely lighting it up. Great 1st half for EMU.

Crazyyy stuff tonight! One thing I've noticed - it's really only Farrikhan and Bates doing the scoring for EMU - potential thing for our defense to take into consideration?

Been an entertaining night for sure. This is a high level game. Playing at a nuetral site is pretty cool. Attracting some green into the crowd bodes well for breathing life into the program.

Watched a bunch of hoops tonite. From Maine to Alabama to Michigan to California. Thank Goodness hoops comes back for more and gives back every night.

Had someone tell me earlier this week about how the MAC isn't what it used to be in producing NBA prospects. I believe the portal really opens up the opportunities for players that don't succeed at the power five level, and I think it's a new opportunity for the MAC to become dominant again in mid major basketball. Would love if MAC could produce another lottery pick.

EMU falls short, final 83-88 Michigan what a game! Bates and Farrakhan look like major offensive threats. If Bates keeps up this pace - player of the year

Fun game to watch, EMU got itself in some foul trouble but otherwise looks like a force. Even scoring 30, Bates is an unselfish player. Looked the part of a lotto pick. MAC play is gonna be tough.

EMU is going to be a tough out every single game Bates plays in.

Not sure OU - or any team - has a player that can match up against him.

We're gonna need Roderick to play 40 minutes of straight shadow defense.

He's gonna average 30PPG and head straight for the lottery.

Honestly, I'm happy for the kid. Would hate to see him become a cautionary tale, when just a few months ago it looked like he would.

Spot on.

I hope this kid stays healthy and does not get in trouble
moving forward. He is what the MAC needs.

Noticed that undercurrent that ALWAYS is present from EMU teams. Character always seems to show through. Will be interesting to see how many games they have in hand and shoot themselves in the foot. I like them to be very high in the table at the end of the year.

I like the entire MAC from what I have seen so far. Beating up on Earlham was not impressive but this small sample so far shows the conference to be on the rise.

Best NBA prospect the MAC has seen since Chris Kaman for sure.

Can he go higher than Antonio Daniels, who went #4 from BG in 1997?

I'm not sure on that, but has the looks of top 10 definitely.

All-time MAC 1st Rd NBA Draftees:

1. 1997, #4 - Antonio Daniels, BG
2t. 2003, #6 - Chris Kaman, CMU
2t. 1999, #6 - Wally Szczerbiak, Miami
4. 1986, #8 - Ron Harper, Miami
5t. 1995, #11 - Gary Trent, Ohio
5t. 1998, #11 - Bonzi Wells, Ball St
7. 1988, #14 - Dan Majerle, CMU
8. 1990, #15 - Dave Jamerson, Ohio

But could they beat long time NBA'ers:
Nate Thurmond, BGSU
George Gervin, EMU
Dan Roundfield, CMU
Ben Poquette, CMU
Earl Boykins, EMU

One of the better games I've watched in the last couple years, very entertaining storyline and atmosphere.

Bates looks like he could be the real deal, however, we don't have anybody that can matchup with him. I have a feeling he will pick up a lot of technicals this year, appears to be a little cocky.

I'm not looking forward to having OUr big men try to stop Dickinson next weekend.
