Everybody OK with DJ forcing a shot with 30 seconds left on the shot clock and us up 1 on the next-to-last possession?  Think that was the play Groce called during the timeout?

This. Two home games in a row he has taken unnecessary shots at the end of the game. (His contested three against Miami with at least 10 seconds left without trying anything else).

Has to learn better shot selection.

Hopefully the young guys will learn a few things from these close conference games and make significant strides the second time around and later on in their careers here.

You would think most teams are even keeled for all their road games, but perhaps with Ohio being tournament champs, having a player that everyone covets and playing in front of a crowd on a beautiful campus really motivates them to another level.  We left a sour taste in Kent's mouth in March and they had no difficulty bringing their "A" game to Athens. I'll be there in Kent in late February when our maturing Bobcats reverse yesterday's fortunes.

-I wish I had enough time to figure out coach Groce's win % at Ohio.

8-9 (1-2)
22-15 (7-9)
15-17 (7-9)

45-41 (15-20)
.523 (.429)

I've been saying all year, a lot of you seem to forget that last season we began 9-9 (we're now 8-9), and 0-4 in conference (now 1-2).

Thank you sir!

My vidcast was choppy, I could feel the L coming, and I was on the phone with my brother (also OHIO) so I didn't see the last 2+ minutes that well.  I believe that we were in man to man, right?

Seems to me that we ought've been zone as kents didn't shoot that well and they had a more difficult time getting it inside on us when we went zone as compared to when we manned.  Can anyone confirm or deny?

Kent shredded our 2-3 zone in the first half, shooting 58%.

Yeah the video feed was weak Saturday.  I switched to the radio feed only.

The more zone D we play, the more our defensive rebounding will suffer.

To those of you who think we should be bringing in "ready to play bigs": get in line with the 15 or 20 higher rated conferences. Unless you've just been watching MAC hoops recently, the MAC doesn't get ready to play bigs! The Big Ten does, the Southeastern Conf does, etc. etc. Look at Zeke Marshall. If he could really play, Akron would have never signed him. We got lucky with Trent.
