From reading this board, I sense that few come in from west of Athens.  Also, up to Cinci and Dayton (a long trip), is there much populace west?

Also sense that not many come in from east or south of Athens.

There is a nice sized group of regulars that come from Parkersburg/Belpre/Marietta.  I know I see a lot of cars going that direction home each game and personally know quite a few season ticket holders from this area.

Since we are on the subject of crowd demographics, I wonder what percentage of the crowd consists of local Athens residents?  Not even students, but community members?

My best guess at the average home game breakdown...Could be WAY off.

60% Athens residents/Students
20% Surrounding Athens area (Nelsonville, Plains, Albany, etc)
5% Lancaster/Columbus area
5% Jackson/Wellston area
5% Parkersburg/Marietta area
5% Other

Doesn't appear Lancaster has suffered much since it was bypassed....
Lancaster, as a town, has a bit more going for it than Nelsonville.  I doubt there will be much lost beyond some gas and fast food profits, and those types of places will probably just spring up or move near the exits.

If Green and White Club membership is any indication of where people live who attend the games, our membership is 47% Athens (45701) and 12% Athens County.

Help me out here Alan. I'm a bit confused on this chilly Friday morning.

How can the percent of G&W members from Athens County be less than the percent of members from Athens? Don't the members from the city also reside in the county?

I'm supposing he means another 12 percent from Athens County aside from Athens, so 59 percent in Athens County total.

I can't imagine small business owners will be too happy when their town becomes bypassed.

Exactly why this project has been 30 years in the making.  No disrespect to politics, but without Gov. Strickland this would have never happened, and if not being so far a long this project would be killed in the current climate.

You're absolutely correct that this project wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for Ted.  You should have seen the heat he got in the Cleveland press for daring to send stimulus funds to his old home base in SEO instead of to Cleveland for yet another interstate bridge that they'll now have to wait a few more years for.  Not to get too political myself, but in the whole nation this was one of the few actually "shovel ready" projects that stimulus funds were used for.  I believe I saw an analysis that less than 10 percent of all stimulus money was used for construction and infrastructure projects that would even remotely be deemed shovel ready.  This one was under construction within just a few months of the stimulus dollars being available.  I wouldn't worry about the project being halted.  The State of Ohio honors its contracts.  This ain't no California!  (Sorry Monroe)

And the other 41% is phantom membership inflation.

I think "Nelsonville Bypass" would be a great name for a rockabilly band.

as for the problem of the ramp at 33/270 I am certainly familier with it, I work for odot and sometimes have to plow it. Not pretty there in good weather.  The cloverleaf ramps became outdated a long time ago. Unfortunately plans for new style flyover ramps are probably not planned there for the near future . Before the administrations changed all focus was on the 70/71 split. So I would agree that the brice /gender rd. option makes a nice alternate choice as that is the way I also come to athens.

P.S. McDorman chevrolet doesn't have as many  corvettes as he used too so it is easier too keep going without stopping on the way.
