I think ESPNU announces Bracketbuster match-ups tonight. Anyone following the rankings enough to speculate where we might be headed?

Home teams in the region include: Valpo, Wright State, Youngstown State, Loyola, Drake, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Wichita State, Murray State, SEMO, UT-Martin, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. There are several MAAC teams, Morgan State in Maryland and a couple America East teams.

Wow tonight already?  This will be the first year since it has been around that we haven't had a long running thread about possibilities for the weeks leading up to it.

I imagine we'll get a pretty low ranked team and a very winnable road game as a result of our underachieving.  At this point, I'm OK with that.

my prediction will be an Ohio at Southern Illinois match up,

Ohio -                            RPI - 177        3 & 4 in the MAC and 10 & 11 overall

Southern Illinois -          RPI - 175        4 & 7 in the MVC and 10 & 12 overall

2nd possibility :  Ohio at Tennessee State

Ohio -                           RPI - 177         3 & 4 in the MAC and 10 & 11 overall

Tennessee State -       RPI - 194          7 & 4 in the OVC and 10 & 11 overall

If it's Tennessee State, can we get Nolan Richardson Jr to show up packing heat?

My first guess would be SIU, as well.  Here are some handy-dandy numbers: http://www.vcuramnation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&...

I personally would like to see us against Valpo or Wright State.  That may give us some TV time?

Yeah, it's been a whole year since we played Wright State in the bracketbusters. We're probably due. I also distinctly remember hosting Valpo THIS SEASON.

Yes, we did shaba, thank you for calling that to my attention.  I just wanna see us get someone that will get us on TV.  Since STO, "The MAC" station, only caters to Kent and Akron most of the time.

Who we play won't single handedly get us on TV for this event. Our season results will and since they haven't been that great we're probably not going to be on TV unless the team we're playing has a local TV rights deal that gets picked up automatically on ESPN3.

As mentioned, just as we have since we hosted George Mason, we have played ourselves out of contention for a TV slot on the ESPN family. Also, it seems worth mentioning that STO has had two selection dates so far, and has used both to pick Ohio's game -- including this Wednesday's.

They still have one selection, and ESPNU and ESPN2 each have one. Keep winning, get ourselves into a title hunt, and coverage will come.

The best matchups get spots on ESPN2. The next best set get on ESPNU and I think a few more are selected for ESPN3.com. In recent bracketbuster memory, we hosted Samford on ESPN3(60), blew a huge lead at NMSU during a midnight broadcast on ESPN2, and the superphun game hosting George Mason on ESPN2.

Since then, our play leading up to bracketbuster Saturday has not warranted TV attention. I don't think there's a chance STO picks up any of the bracketbuster games. I would imagine they want to stick with conference games.
