I'm sure everyone is anxious to see how far Ohio has fallen: http://tinyurl.com/6a4acoe>

How can you rate Western and Eastern better than us?  Yes, we aren't very good, but we're definitely playing better than Eastern and probably Western.  I'd rate us #7 right now.  That speaks volumes about how pitiful this conference is this season.

How about Ball St., arguably the MAC's best team, losing at home last night to Morehead St. Another example of how far this league has fallen.

Morehead St

Who is led by an NBA prospect and the nation's top rebounder. Disgraceful loss.

C'mon Shab, we know Faried is very good, and Morehead has had some good teams in recent years, but Morehead was coming off two OVC losses.  I think they were 12-8 coming in.

That's still a game Ball State should have won.

BTW, Morehead at home convincingly beat Kent State earlier this season, 76-59.

Again, Ball St. is arguably the MAC's best team (at least the best record) and is at home. Is 5-0 v. MAC opponents. What does that say about the MAC?

The only saving grace, I believe, is that the majority of the top players (Jones at BSU, Greene, DJ, Mavunga, Thomas, etc. . .) are back next year. Looking at most rosters, MAC teams look to be stronger next year - hopefully a trend upwards that Jeff has been calling for over the last few years.

I'm with you on this, but now is our chance to prove it. We have a chance to gain some confidence against the West hopefully and get some things straightened out.

I think that some of last night's games were a perfect example of how far the MAC has fallen.

While watching the Ohio-EMU game I couldn't help but compare the talent on the court with some of the EMU teams from the mid-1990s that visited the Convo against some of Larry Hunter's teams from that era. An EMU program with the likes of former NBA players Derrick Dials, Earl Boykins, Grant Long (and others), one that defeated Duke in the NCAA tourney, against an Ohio program that won the pre-season NIT and boasted an NBA lottery pick. Great matchups with top-of-the-line talent on both teams.

After the game, while channel surfing, I caught glimpses of: Akron-NIU game, played in front of a crowd of under 1,000; and a MVC game at N. Iowa in front of a packed house with a major-college atmosphere.

Could the MAC product on the court have something to do with the diminishing crowds. I know I'm less inclined to make the mid-week trip to Athens to see some very mediocre (at best) basketball.
