If Bobcat Love's "Alan Swank/Dick Vedder" post can get 605 views and counting, surely this post on the Olympic Sports/Other Sports section deserves as much attention. Let's put our money where our collective mouths are and make this happen.

I enjoyed Molly's letter, but we all know Mr. Schaus's silence is almost certainly not voluntary.  I am sure he is 100 times more fed up with the Athletics bashing than she is.  The backing shouldn't come from him initially, it should come from McDavis and then Athletics should be given permission to publicly address crazy babbling by the attackers.  I love that Steve Hays attempts to make it seem in his letter like he doesn't have an agenda to cut athletics because clearly his are of study serves little purpose to the university.

I'm in .......(but not standing up?). .........

Besides, I think I've lost more in one hand to Clay with two high pair.

Sure fire formula to economic success = engage in games of skill/chance in which Oldkatz is a participant.

My contribution is in the mailbox and pointed toward the Convo. Good luck and skill, Annie! Go, Ohio!

Does anyone else find it kind of embarrassing that this request had to be made because track funding is so poor?

I find it puzzling. Is this an unsanctioned event? What is the reason?

It is an unexpected cost, we don't usually send anyone to this invite it sounds like, but because Annie is doing so well they want to help increase her chances for qualifying for nationals by sending her to the premier indoor track invitational.

Did my donation through OHIO's online system just now.

I bet Profs Vedder and Hayes don't.....

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Actually, I'm surprised they are being allowed to solicit like this.

Gang:

Just to clear this up before it gets any further...

This solicitation did not come from Coach Calkins, the cross country/track and field program or anyone in Ohio Athletics.

Thanks.

Jason, where did it come from but more importantly, has ICA money been allocated to send her?  If there was an allocation, what impact did it have on the overall track budget?  Thanks,

Wrote my check payable to Ohio Athletics and on the memo line wrote Track & Field/Angie.  Trusting it will be used as intended...

Nope, but I do appreciate and thank those who responded.  The item caught my attention as my wife and a Bobcat teammate were invited to the national qualifiers back in 1983.  I can only imagine the disappointment anyone would experience by being invited and not being able to compete because their school could not afford to send them.

Kind of like being invited to a bowl game and not being able to afford it.
