I'm being ultra-conservative. I think this team is a 25-26 win team skillwise, but freshmen hardly ever live up to the full potentials.If Nick Kellogg, Ricardo Johnson and T.J. Hall deal with adversity in their first season as well as D.J. Cooper did (that's asking a whole bunch, by the way) and if Baltic and Keely make the next step to above average MAC big men, this team could roll through the MAC. But no one ever seems to just roll through the MAC. But Ohio has as good of a shot as anyone in the conference to get back to the Big Dance.

I hope I'm wrong, but this team seems overrated to me.  There are only two dependable scorers on the roster in Coop and Tommy, our front court isn't good enough to overcome the severe lack of depth and inexperience we have in the backcourt, and our coach hasn't yet proven he can even go .500 in MAC play.  The loss of Coleman was a killer.  Next year will hopefully be brighter with added depth and experience. 

I don't think it was ever officially counted last year, but I'm fairly certain I had the best record when it was all said and done.  My picks weren't a complete success though, since we fell a tad short of the Sweet Sixteen I called for... 

Anyway, if it's not broke, don't fix it...  I'll stay optimistic about this season.

Okay...  I admit that overall record seems a bit crazy, and the tourney was probably to one-up the last poster... 

BUT, our OOC schedule is awesome.  It's simply awesome.  We don't lose OOC games at home, we just don't, and we've got a ton of them scheduled.  Check the facts, one last year, before that?  It was a couple seasons back.  We're going to come into MAC play ranked with the target the size of Everest.  That is where I get nervous about my picks...  We're going to drop a few, and those are tough to call, other then any road game (likely against the MAC East, but Ball St. scares me)...

It's going to be fun though.  I won't deny I have high hopes...  And I might not leave my apartment after a loss...  And I definitely won't have the stomach to come on this board after a loss...  But that's okay!  Last year's run shows why it's all worth it!

Optimist, please tell us why you think our OOC schedule is "awesome"? With the exception of Kansas, it doesn't help us one bit come selection time. MAC teams must play and beat teams above their level to get at large bids and rankings. This schedule does not help with that.

I guess that's why they call you the Optimist. I don't agree. The MAC as a conference is already slotted as middle of the road, at best. Playing a bunch of teams that are considered to be at your level, even if you beat them, doesn't help elevate your status. If we win every game you will have earned your moniker. We may have a great year, but don't expect us to be ranked.
